Let’s Make Gambia Great Again!

Our common goal should be geared towards making the Gambia Great again.

Congratulations to President-elect Adama Barrow and the entire opposition coalition leadership. I must congratulate the entire Gambian citizenry for a resounding victory in this election. My heartfelt congratulations go to the entire Diaspora opposition activists for their sense of patriotism, love for country and true dedication to democratic values. The contribution of Gambians in the Diaspora with regard to this victory cannot be over emphasized.

A new Gambia is born where democracy and rule of law will be restored. Gambian people have spoken loudly and clearly in their repudiation of 22 years of military dictatorship. Dictator Yaya Jammeh must peacefully hand over power to President-elect Adama Barrow without delay.

Now is the time for Gambian people to celebrate their constitutional rights in a dignified manner. The voice of the people is the voice of God. Gambian people have gone through hell for the past 22 years but with this victory, we must reflect on the journey that we took long time ago before we arrive at this peaceful democratic revolution. As we usher into a new era of democratic dispensation, we must pay tribute to those patriotic citizens who have lost their lives in the fight to restore democracy and constitutionalism in our country. Gambian people are grateful for their selfless sacrifices.

We are grateful and appreciative of the efforts of the entire opposition coalition leadership and various leadership qualities they have demonstrated over the past 22 years. The various political party militants, local activists and ordinary citizens in The Gambia have all contributed to this special and outstanding victory. We are specially grateful and honoured for the selfless sacrifice of UDP leadership and the entire party for the sense of patriotism, love and dedication for our country. We must continue to pray for the wellbeing of our elderly fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters who are illegally kidnapped and incarcerated at Mile 2 Central Prisons.

As we celebrate this triumphant victory, we must all take personal responsibility to ensure that peace and love prevail among us.

It is time for us to put our political differences behind us and start the process of rebuilding our country. Our common goal should be geared towards making the Gambia Great again. With determination and willingness on our side, we can return to the sweet old days. As we have demonstrated in this fight, we must continue the sense of community and oneness among ourselves so that we can be stronger together as one people. I am personally grateful to be part of this victory. I must thank our online media houses for their wonderful job. I appreciate the excellent job Kairo News team has been doing over past years.

Congratulations to all Gambians.

Thank you.
