The family of Kairo News and Radio wishes everyone happy, prosperous and blessed new year. Without our esteemed readers, listeners and contributors, we would have packed up and shut down. You keep injecting enthusiasm, passion and energy in us on a daily basis. You have made Kairo your home and even claim ownership of its comment section, turning it into a university bantaba where maturity, professionalism and intellectualism thrive. It is so well coordinated that the likes of Bax, Kinteh, Deyda Hydara, Dida Halake or Lafia do not allow any intruder to throw sand in the soup and get away with it. You have become your own moderators which makes our job easy. We are so proud of you that we wish to know some of you personally.
We appreciate your phone calls, text messages and emails sharing your lofty ideas with us. We equally appreciate and take note of every financial magnanimity – small or big – you showered on us since our inception on February18th 2014. To all of you, we are more than grateful for being interested in your country’s affairs to the fullest. As a people, we can only be who we are if we understand our story, culture, news, religion and history. It is in this regard that Kairo team strives hard to come up with meaningful articles and programmes geared towards educating, informing and entertaining Gambians, majority of who are denied access to anything that is deemed critical of the Jammeh government.
Truthfully, our job is and will always be challenging, considering the limited time we have but we want to assure readers and listeners that we will stick to our guns. All we need is your prayers and support in either cash or kind.
Kairo will endeavour to add value and meaning to its content, extend outreach and where possible, introduce thought-provoking columns or radio programmes. The plan is already in place but we cannot get to the mountaintop as Dr. Martin Luther King put it, without you. We hope and pray that 2016 will bring a new dawn in our country. It behooves on all of us to unite in our fight to restore our eluded democracy, the rule of law and human rights. If our neighbours in the sub-region can cross over this bridge, who says we can’t. Yes, we can unless we allow our individual agenda to override the collective interest.
To my noble team members, I throw my hat for you. You have demonstrated your sincerity to your country and its people. Despite your busy work and family life, you continue to sacrifice your invaluable time and resources to national duty. I hope all of you understand my role as not only the Executive Editor but also Executive Botherer who is task-oriented. I admire your team spirit, patience and tolerance.
Thank you Kairo staff for the new message. We also wish you a successful and prosperous new year without Yaya Jammeh. Maybe it is an oversight when writing the message but would like to register Marx as one of the very committed and resourceful commentator in the forum family.
For the records, those on the ground have observe that this Christmas and New year is the worst ever witnessed in Gambia. In our street alone we use to see over 5 adult gesseh, kumpo and kankurang parades and lot of young masquarades but this year it is ZERO parades. Something is fundamentally wrong this year, can someone tell us why?
Thank you all.
proud of u job well done
I like having a go at Malang of the NIA all the time and thereby igniting his “hebe gebe” moments.
Thank you too kaironews.
Hydara,Thank you very much for your compliment and I think kaironews is the best place to share our divergent views. I urge each and every one of us to make personal commitment or resolution in our efforts to continue exposing the brutal regime in Banjul and to work harder to ensure restoration of democracy and rule of law in The Gambia. I am proud of you all. I hope this year my good friend Bax will finally have more courage to support my belief that “all options “must be used to get rid of Dictator Jammeh. Happy new year.
Max, it pains Halifa a lot when his disciples are routed in this forum. So leave Bax alone.
Happy New Year and may 2016 bring good news and the much anticipated change for the better.
“All options on the table”…..You sound like “imperialist” Obama..(lol) I recognise your rights to “all options”, but I can’t support some of your options…Nevertheless, I wish you all the best in whatever options you chose…
OJ, the 15yrs long Interim Leader of PPP, has also put out a New Year’s message. Don’t be surprise if his statement is followed by a “fish and chips” message from that woman in Brikama. What is her name again??
Touray , I hope they have independent thinking lol as we start a new year. I am sure Yero Ba , will once again question my “independence” in our current politics.
A good sign of leadership! Kairo is our home. Happy New Year.
Fatou Camara of FatuRadio is not publishing Darboe’s new year message. She played trick with the Xmas message when it hit over a thousand by bringing it down and putting it up again much later so that the numbers can disappear. What is wrong with that woman?? No wonder she is being deserted.
Finally, that Fatou Camara has published Darboe’s new year message. I hope she is not going to go dodgy again once it attracts over a thousand hits.
Thank you Kairo team for your immense contribution towards the redemption of our motherland. Thank you for creating an interactive platform (readers’ comment section) where matured and diverse opinion rain; And I’m glad you recognize the regulars like Deyda, Lafia La Manju, Kinteh, Bax, Maxs, (whose inadvertent omission was quickly rectified by Deyda), and, Malang.
I will thank those who have given you financial and other logistical support without which we will not be benefiting from this this “product”. I will therefore urge those readers to drop something in the hat.
Thank you and Happy New Year.
