The Gambia police has announced that the issuance of the 2019 driver’s license by SEMLEX GAMBIA began since January 14. In a press release published below, the Inspector General of Police reminds the public that drivers must pass the requirements before they are issued license.
The Office of the Inspector General of Police hereby informs the general public that issuance of Driver’s Licenses for the year 2019 commenced on Monday 14th January 2019 by SEMLEX GAMBIA.
In this regard, Driver’s License can be obtained at SEMLEX GAMBIA COMPLEX in Kanifing. In the meantime plans are underway to open Banjul and Brikama offices soon. Equally, individuals applying for Driver’s Licenses shall undergo driving competence interview and testing before issuance of the License.
Similarly, the Office of the Inspector General reminds all vehicle owners that it is a requirement by law that all vehicles plying the highways must undergo testing for road worthiness and certified.
In line with Traffic Management Precautions, this office wishes to bring to the attention of the general public that it will enforce Motor Traffic Regulations section 78, which requires among others, all vehicles to have First Aid Boxes, Triangle Reflectors and Fire Extinguishers with the following specifications:
● Saloon Cars, Jeeps, Taxis, etc……. 1kg ABC Powder
● Commercial vehicles, Coaches, Minivans, Coasters, etc…… 2kg ABC Powder
● Trucks, Trailers, Fuel Tankers, Haulage Vehicles, etc……. 6kg to 9kg ABC Powder
