GAMBIA ARMED FORCES OFFICER SPEAKS

STATEMENT FROM GAMBIA ARMED FORCES OFFICER

Fellow Gambians, fellow members of the Gambia Armed Forces’.

For now, I will only reveal to you that I’m a member of the Gambia Armed Forces and a highly ranked officer but please allow me to remain anonymous till we succeed in making the rest of the Armed Forces realise the mistake we are about to make if we didn’t change our minds. I repeat… If we didn’t change our minds.

I begin my statement by saying that I’m a high ranked soldier who begins to think clearly and I decided to comment on this page not because I’m a fan of Adama Barrow but because my duty as a soldier is to protect the people of the Gambia. And through this page, I believe I can reach out to my fellow desperate soldiers and service men who are on standby not because they want to be there, but because they are afraid to be jailed without following commands.

What we need to understand is, Yahya Jammed is elected out and Mr. Adama Barrow will be our new president by January whether we believe it or not because Gambian people voted for Barrow.

Secondly, We must all continue to keep the oath we took as we were being sworn in as soldiers. We swear to defend the country and not a president. I mean we swear to defend neither Yahya Jammeh nor Adama Barrow but the Gambia our nation and the people of the Gambia.

Point of correction. Most of you heard General Ousman Badjie’s speech saying that “you will go to Jannah (Paradise) if you die defending your nation.” I’m not a religious leader, I can’t say is true or not but what I can say is, even if it is true, defending Yahya Jammeh is not defending your country. Your job as a soldier is to defend your country. Let no one fool you to believe Ousman Badjie.

Yahya Jammeh is likely to be prosecuted. Therefore he doesn’t want to let go power and he wants to use us to protect himself. Let us open our eyes fellow soldiers.

The people of the Gambia voted for Mr. Adama Barrow, therefore, no soldier including myself have the right to stand behind outgoing president Yahya Jammeh to protect him if he illegally wants to remain in power. Whoever does so is gonna regret. Remember Jammeh is not a fool, he relocated his family out of the country and preparing for war. Sadly enough, we are here with our family who will bear the pain.

Yahya Jammeh is a looser and he is now using us to keep him temporarily safe while risking the lives of our own family members who are desperately confused about what the Gambia is facing (a possible war between “Yahya Jammeh plus the misled soldiers behind him” vs. “the true soldiers plus outside forces).”

I say keeping Yahya Jammeh temporarily safe because Gambian soldiers truly cannot stand outside forces for long. We don’t have jet fighters, we don’t have submarines. We don’t have any proper air defense system. Only one or two jet fighters is enough to clear us all and the rest will be forced to surrender or runaway. This is fact and don’t think I’m making up stories. Even Yahya Jammeh knows what’s at stake, that’s why he sent his wife and children out. He selfishly did not care about us and our families. So why risk your life for a looser president who is one way or the other gonna leave the office.

I remind you all fellow soldiers, Jammeh is only strong with soldiers behind him. If we all stand strong, united as nation, for our nation, Jammeh will have no one to back him. He will definitely runaway. He is misleading us by bribing our colleagues through promotion, only for them to command us to protect him. It is very clear that Yahya Jammeh is using us and we will regret if we allow him to use us.

Gambian people no more like Jammeh. Only the relatives of close Jammeh’s officers like Jammeh. Police truly in heart don’t like Jammeh, likewise Immigration officers. So who are we to say we want to protect an already defeated president. Can we please think clearly for once.

Yes I will be fully ready to die protecting Jammeh if he truly won the election but in this case he is not the president by January. No soldier including myself should stand behind him or take orders from him immediately Mr. Adama Barrow is sworn in.

As at now, we are faced with the most serious issue ever faced by the people of the Gambia (a peaceful country), the people we swear to protect.

Sadly enough, most of the other soldiers I already talk to are just feeling the same as I am. Finding themselves on endless standby just because of one selfish Yahya Jammeh. For days we don’t see our family members.

We want to have our lives back. To be with family and friends yet enjoying our peaceful day to day office work with steady minds. We don’t want to keep standing outside on endless standby like a watch dog. And that’s what we have when Jammeh keep staying in power. Enough is enough.

Unfortunately, most of the younger solders are in the front line behind sandbags meaning… God forbid… something happened, you will be shut to death first before Jammeh that you trying to protect which you did not swear for. Again we were sworn in to protect the Gambia. Jammeh is clinging to power which he is already voted out.

To end my statement, I’m doing my part to secretly talk to my fellow soldiers and I’m really happy with the number of soldiers thinking clear.

Please spread the massage to give courage to the remaining few misled soldiers which I believe will join us soon and surprise Jammeh with a step down order. Join me in saluting president-elect Adama Barrow.

SALUTE YOU SIR!!!.

May peace prevail.

PS: Soldiers… We unite and order Jammeh to step down before it’s too late. Remember Jammeh is strong only with us behind him.

    My dear fellows
    This is your brother
    The Unbiased Prince
As usual, my concern is on vulnerable Gambians now left in the hands of despair
    And what I would like to say about that is;
Yaya Jammeh is contagious, cantankerous and dangerous. But Gambians and rest of the world have all the reasons worth dying for, to remove the cancer that he has always been within the streams of their future.
The political misperception within enhanced of speculations, and the unnecessary burning of people’s spirits and desires with uncertainty minds should no longer holds anyone back from doing the right thing, and right now hence the menace of Yaya Jammeh stupidity is still too obvious to ignore while he is at the devastation of our fruitful tomorrow.
As it is a matter of fact that the entire generation of today cannot fail on, let’s continue with the lethal actions of well eminent to remove the vile that he is without any further delay than done on our constantly asking him to go off our wellbeing without any success.
Thanks very much for your time.
    Wa Salaam.

  2. Unbiased Prince GB

    Mes chers amis
    C’est ton frère
    Le prince sans partialité
Comme d’habitude, mon souci est sur les Gambiens vulnérables maintenant laissés dans les mains du désespoir
    Et ce que je voudrais dire à ce sujet est;

  3. Poor harmless Gambian are definitely vulnerable looking at the looks of some soldiers poised to shed the blood of people of a country where everyone seems to be related one way or the other. Lunacy becomes lethal when a lunatic mind also breed jealousy and bitterness in it. The thought of leaving Gambia alone in peace for its peaceful people burns in Jammeh’s heart like hellfire. Jammeh and his clique of militia men are not those types of Gambians who could have acquired a nickel in life on their own if they did not loot with guns. That is why they are all this mad trying to defend what is not theirs. It is better that the army regulate itself immediately and do the wise thing. Even claims that Jammeh is hiring ignoramuses who have cowardly committed genocides in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ivory Coast shouldn’t break down anybody’s spirits. All those perambulating idiots of the sub-region will be once and for all rounded up and done with once and for all. This includes one of their cancerous hearted-beings; Suwandou Camara or whatever his name. Innocent citizens may have to suffer in what is imminent in the country because it is sad certain sons of African mothers are born as corwards bred to destroy the continent. I hope that Ecowas will round them up all this time without one of them having to escape. Ecowas should be having its intelligence units in all of it’s community by now. Senegal should by now try to locate and brief ex Gambian soldiers exiled in Senegal, soldiers who have always aspired or tried in toppling Jammeh’s ruthless and brutal dictatorship without success, but with their army’s undoubted professionalism and steadfastness in doing so. The jungles of Cassamance keeps drumming in my head. I hope all the civilians will not remain civilians in this state of emergency of the country but some will volunteer to fight alongside and under the Ecowas’s command. Senegalese troops need Gambian war spies if they want to relocate Yaya Jammeh’s cache of weapons and also to clean and seal its South from further rebel activities. This most be a once and for all business because the children, women, old and the sick are tired of it now.

  4. A part of the Gambian soldiers must now muster the courage and breakaway. Those who are afraid to do so in the Gambia, must now use the corridor to Senegal and defect. They can coordinate this move among themselves and defect as a company or battalion. The Senegalese army will keep and utilise them for the imminent attack on the outgoing gang of thugs.
If they wait until Senegal change the gov’t by force, then they must understand that the Gambia army will be re-constituted or even abolished.

  5. majority of Gambian military will not sacrifice their lives for your Yaya jammeh. Even those at statehouse are there for their salaries but as soon as there is military intervention they would run for their lives . In fact nowadays, most soldiers carry both civilian clothes and military uniform when they go to work or so called standby . They do this so that they can easily change into civilian clothes as soon as there is any military intervention. Yaya jammeh is bluffing and he knows he must step down. It will be a deadly mistake for him and his tribal militia forces to stay one more day when his term expires. Senegal willl use the military intervention as an opportunity to destroy the tribal militia forces and their hideouts in The Gambia.

    • It is better to drop the idea of a Senegalese military intervention in the Gambia for an Ecowas military intervention @Max. After all Senegal is part an parcel of the Ecowas. Senegal can only facilitate the military intervention that is on the Ecowas table, as much as they are willing.

      • Ggapm , you are right Senegal is part and parcel of ECOWAS but they will lead any ECOWAS military intervention in The Gambia. I sincerely hope and pray that jammeh suddenly change his mind again to peacefully handover power. Nigeria and Senegal are the military powerhouses in the subregion. Senegal has full backing of France and USA if there should be any military intervention. They should plan it well just like USA navy seal raided and killed Bin landen in Pakistan. Right now there is surveillance on the Dictator and his thugs . His every moves is monitor and his communication systems is monitor. I just hope that if he refuse to step down let them have British, or French special forces with ECOWAS capture Jammeh while the country is sleeping . Hey Ggapm , i would encourage you to watch how navy seal six team raided and killed Bin laden if you didn’t see that movie . It is brilliant and wonderful movie. Operation jammeh’s removal should be done carefully with no room for mistakes.

        • Rating military mights in the sub-region that way of yours would tend to be counteracting still, looking at the fact that Nigeria’s military is predominantly fat in the millions and hardware needless to mention, talking of its infantry bigger than populations of some countries in the sub-region not to question their abondance with seasoned men of their army, among them, actual war Generals . Mlitary might is not what may be important here but the discipline, professionality and the self-integrity of individual military personels of the Ecowas forces to be briefed for the imminent military intervention in the Gambia. Great Britain might be holding its neutral position with regards to a possible military intervention in the Gambia, that ofcourse, should be a concern to them more than France. The latter is just an individual viewpoint after all, what the Brits position right now may be on the option of a military intervention in the tinny and brilliant republic, The Gambia, but should be nones business more than them in the whole of the E.U. We heard it in the history lessons, they had never lost guard on Hitler, infact, they helped in catching hitler off guard.
It is all about launching an ECOWAS military intervention from the territories of another Ecowas member country(Senegal) who surrounds the objectives on all its three borders.

Max I despise the though of every similarity to the idiocy of the hell-on-earth-messenger-to-the-world, Sam Sarr, however. One might be an educated fool himself not knowing that fact but yet it hurt so much to see, talk and listen.. to one like himself anyway. Sam Sarr likes getting in forums not to sharpen his dull mind because he would never learn from them but get worse dropping crap on them.

          Long live the Gambia!
          Long live Senegal!
          Long live Ecowas!
Long Live The African Union and its children.

  6. Yaya Jammeh is a deluded man and having watched the socalled General Saul Badjie, with all those jujus around his neck, I am not sure whether he is any better…

I can only hope that there are more sober minded officers and men like the writer in our Armed Forces, whose senses are not affected and impaired by the delusion of Jammeh and Badjie.

You don’t have to be a soldier to realise that the GNA lacks the resources and weapons to successfully repel an intervention from Senegal or an ECOWAS Force,.and The Gambia ‘s terrain is not suited to guerrilla warfare or mercenary tactics, thank God for that.

Jammeh, who threatens all and sundry, even big military powers like the USA and UK, knowing that they had no interest to attack him, is definitely deluded to think that he will be ignored this time.

The Armed Forces, for their own sake and that of the country, should come out now and make it clear to him that they will not support him after January 18th, to avoid destruction because that is inevitable, if conflict breaks out. They are the only ones he is relying on now. There is only a tiny window left to do this, and.it is getting ever tinier as our big day approaches.
