JAMMEH  IS CHARGING FAMILIES FOR THE SINS OF THEIR RELATIVES: #FreeYusuphaLowe

Hurt people hurt people’, they say. Any man who lacks certain basic human emotions hurt people but they hardly get hurt. Yaya Jammeh is that kind. Of the eight basic human emotions President Jammeh is filled with fear stemming from paranoia that his evil deeds will haunt and yank his disturbed soul out of his chest through his mouth. He’s angered that he has all his life been deprived of joy and love that those he was born and grew up around has abundance of, a deprivation that fueled and filled his life with sadness and depression. That was why Yaya, whom some believe was a foster child of Asombie Bojang, gets disgusted and envious by the progress, success, achievements and happiness of others. That is why he craves and pays whatever price to be validated and belong. This is what drives Yaya’s unexplainable attitude towards Gambians. That is why he lacks empathy and respect for people and life.

I have for the longest, struggled to write about the precarious predicament of the relatives of alleged ‘Statehouse Attackers’ that I revere and celebrate as Liberation Fighters. Families that have not in any way participated or known about the actions of their sons and father have been abducted and whisked away to unknown locations where they have allegedly been subjected to physical torture. Of those under state-sponsored kidnapping are mothers and a child, punished for the ‘sins’ of their kinfolks. What does he hope to achieve? Raise the Freedom Fighters from their honorable death or force others to return? This is pathetic.

The rhetorical question that many ask, that if Yaya did tell his mother that he was staging a military coup on July 22, 1994, has its answer in how Yaya rates his mother and the degree of respect he has for her. From the accounts of those who know him, he reprimands his mother when he feels she’d upset and wronged him. He screams and cusses her out that sends the poor old lady shivering and fearing for her life. I’d not be surprised because there is nothing that Jammeh believes in other than force and riches – Power. So a son his breed would not consult or involve his parent in anything he does.

Because of his disdain for Gambians and excessive intoxication with power, he’d do anything to hurt anyone he believes is a threat to his seat. That was why I wake up each day disappointed and regretting how and why Jammeh escaped a bullet to his skull or at least arrested on December 30, 2014. That was going to get us out of this misery. But since that failed, Yaya drills out his animalistic traits to hatefully treat Gambians with contempt as he ventured on an irrational vengeance on innocent people who probably did not know why they have been abducted.

Yusupha Lowe (13) and Alieu Lowe (19), whose father and brother respectively, is a friend of mine are paying for the sins of their family for a crime he’s alleged to have committed but not guilty of. Meta Njie, the mother of the late Lamain Sanneh is an innocent, poor village woman who is carrying the heavy cross of his son as his body lies on ice in the morgue for four month. How does any man with conscience sleep through that know?

Our situation as a country and people has been helpless thus making it pitiful. That sorry state has been compounded by the absolute absence of any institution that neither defends nor fights for the rights of people against the authorities. Justice department and the courts watch as citizens get stripped of their inalienable rights, detained and gone missing on executive directives. The ministries of Women and Children’s affairs, Social Welfare and Child Protection Alliance all stayed mute while this goes on. As a matter of fact Social welfare and Child Protection Alliance bosses clearly distanced themselves from the issue and quickly narrowed their scopes so this does not fall under their purview. The religious leaders and politicians are not able to do anything. Basically, WE ALL failed as a people for succumbing to the brutality of a Dracula in needle-spiked boots walking on our spines.

Yaya Jammeh is a spiteful soul wronging and abusing Gambians. He has a poisonous spirit that is corroding his whole being, barring him from acknowledging, understanding or relating to indigenous, decent Gambians. Notwithstanding, we must not beg but demand that Yaya frees his abductees for them to reunite with their families. They are hurting the same way he and his wife would should ISIS kidnap his two children and parade them in orange jumpsuits. He must stop inflicting pain on Gambians if he wants his post-presidency be any peaceful for him, or even his family.

Yusupha and Alieu Lowe are supposed to be in school today like Mariam Jammeh instead of languishing in detention. Naa Meta Njie, Alhagie Kebba Touray, Bai Jobe Njie are all parents like Asombie Bojang and Zineb Jammeh who deserved to be with their families after more than hundred days abduction. The Gambian State needs to always remember that it’s her obligation to defend and protect her citizens’ rights, lives and properties instead of perpetuating perennial Gangsterism. All hands must be on deck to hault this speeding training that is about to wreck. By any means necessary.

  1. Gambia

It is indeed a shame that we as a people all fail this children. What a shame on us as a people and a nation!!

The Gambia has been reduced from a country of communities and people to a mere nation of individuals who are only concerned about their individual greed and hiding under their own shade in fear and hence gripped in the crunches of a paranoid criminal!!

It is a sad fact that our nation would never know any peace as long as its people continue to leave each other at the mercy of Yahya.

Hence our next question should be, WHO IS NEXT????

  2. Yaya Jammeh is Gambian’s creation pure and simple . I think he is reflection of our society what it became today , where very few dare speak the truth and seek justices . Our so called religious leaders as well as legal practitioners all failed Gambia . A society where truth and justices are eradicated , impunity , lawlessness and moral decadence becomes new phenomenon as we witness today in Gambia. Jammeh was and is still aid by Gambians to continue to oppress and abuse citizens . Gambian’s are quick to talk about peace but they are not quick to seek justices and this is why Jammeh continue to detain these people. The religious and community leaders fail to stand for justices .

  3. “@Max. …”Yaya Jammeh is Gambian’s creation pure and simple ….”

Comment : You can say this as many times as you wish, because it is the GOSPEL TRUTH….

And another GOSPEL TRUTH is that unless we have meaningful changes, and.not just cosmetic ones post Jammeh, the possibility of another Yaya Jammeh emerging on.our political scene should not be ruled out completely. ..

We need FUNDAMENTAL changes to our political and governance cultures and practices, to avert the emergence of another dictatorship post Jammeh, either of an individual (like Yaya Jammeh himself) or a political party (like the PPP)…

The choice is ours and history, that great recorder of events, is recording our actions /inactions for posterity…

  4. That is what we always propaganda to be keeping in the Gambia; a hypocrite’s type of peace, peace that is based with greed, nepotism, corruption, extortion, murders, kidnappings and distracting each other from better reasoning.
Max, I think you are spot on it. Apparent indifference to minors’ imprisonment is nothing but a Gambian lifestyle. Children??? that is not a good sign at all to Jammeh and his state of terror and the whole Gambia.
Allah (God) watch over our children’s life and health in these desperate moments in the Gambia, where terror of the citizens is ‘translated’ as Gambia’s peace and security.

  5. In my humble opinion, a situation like this is where we need the help of all our diasporan groups to appeal to the international community to help in freeing the ‘child-political-hostages’. Those children are not even held hostage by a terrorist group but by a president!!! CHILDREN!!!! Where is the international community??? Please don’t refer to them as prisoners. They are hostages!!!

  6. Gambians need to tighten our belts for the Plan B option, for NOBODY else would do for us….

While our politicians could selflessly avert this situation bloodlessly, it’s not quite promising that could come soon as urgently required. Whilst some politicians are tirelessly searching for that collective endeavour that could rid us of the Murderous Tyrannical Devil, others are rather demanding individualistic gains or nothing, rather than endeavour for the general safety & affairs of all Gambians which is collective responsibility for ALL Gambians regardless of selfish individualistic provisions….

I call on the International Community to offer us both moral & materialistic support to salvage & reclaim our motherland from decadence, impunity, murder, oppression, kidnappings, torture, theft of meagre state resources, funds & grants….

God helps & bless the collective endeavour to salvage Gambia; Ameen.

  7. Bajaw, it is a complete fact the Gambians need to tighten belts for a plan B or C….. but, are you altogether sure, our politicians can avert the status quo in the Gambia bloodlessly? although this is what we hope and pray for…..
I think the UDP party in general, on the ground, took a tremendous risk by resisting the standoff with police and we the Gambians should be very thankful for its end results remembering past incidents like the 2000 student massacre, which incident took place during the same two decades of political mishap in the Gambia. However the case, in my opinion, the keeping hostage of our children is super urgent and that makes it a super priority to appeal to the competent international institutions, if they can put pressure on that state of impunity in the Gambia to release the innocent children. Country first=Children first; then political debate and processing goes on with meaning. Bourne’s proven theory.

  8. Bax , I agreed with you as you rightly stated on the need to fundamentally change our political and governance cultures and practices so that we can prevent another dictator in the future . Gambia need to have republican constitution which shouldn’t be change by any future government . This mean we have to have a system where rule of law, equal opportunity , respect for laws and civic liberties and rights of citizens must be uphold. Looking at democratic countries , they have a system which cannot be change by any president or future government . Our current military dictator had an opportunity in 1994 when he came in to put a transformational system base on rule of law , equal opportunity , good governance and other excellent democratic criterias , which citizens will recognize and appreciate as true democracy but he turned out to be historical disaster and nightmare for the country . We have huge task ahead of us because putting in place such a system needs significant political education and cultural changes . With right leadership with vision , we can achieve it . Every Gambian needs to look into themselves and ask this question ” how would I feel if my rights are violated ?” . I am sure even president Jammeh do not want his mother’s rights to be violated and this is why he called out those protesters in New York who rained insult on his mother, that he will not grant his so called forgiveness to them . Jammeh forget to remember that he has been insulting our parents on national television , he killed and disappeared our parents , relatives and neighbors while he ensure that his family is secured at all times .

  9. Yusupha’s ddetention is totally unacceptable. As gambians , we must not relent until this innocent boy is freed to his family. Irrespective of family ties, we must acknowledge that what is happening with Yusupha will one day reach the door step of every single Gambian.
Looking away while atrocities happen to our innocent fellow country men is not an option. We all must redouble our efforts to speak out against Yusupha’s detention and may it clear that Yusupha is our brother, son, grandson or nephew. His continuous detention must be seen as a shame on our collective conscience. FREEYUSUPHA LOWE NOW!

  10. Bourne, all genuine Gambians aspire the same, just like you stated for us all here “country first, children first”…..

Surely majority of genuine Gambians are concerned & think of first salvaging & reclaiming the motherland from the murderous infested jaws of the kanilai Predator, securing the general welfare, safety & security of the citizenry & friends ABOVE all & anything else….

These & other people currently in captivity will endure lots of all types of barbaric torture & cruelty until some Devine intervention comes to our collective rescue sooner….

Rather pathetically, instead of our opposition politicians temporarily unifying, selflessly putting the general welfare, safety & security of the nation in “country first children first” some of them are rather more concerned with assurances of their selfish individualistic gains & provisions or nothing, above the innocent lives being captured & killed….???

Yes we stand a chance of getting rid of the kanilai Murderous Devil through the ballots bloodlessly IF ALL our opposition politicians are REALLY COMMITTED for country first. But this ISN’T the case as clear to us all; as all following, whilst some of them are clearly doing magnificently in selfless collective endeavouring, others are certainly motivated in clandestine individualistic manipulative manoeuvres….??

Which makes it all more vividly indicative that a Plan B option is the only choice left on our table for our subsequent salvaging if we are to stand a chance of reclaiming the motherland soon…

Bourne, Evil yaya DEVIL jammeh seldom listens to anyone except its murderous inner ego. Remember the UN infamous prisons & detentions centres inspection that was blocked halfway in the process; UN under Secretary flew in after the December noble attempt who presented factual agenda but was never welcome back again. This is also why it withdrew the country from the Common Wealth because that organization were constant jab in its neck for the tyrannical oppressions, kidnappings, disappearances & endless murdering….

Evil yaya Devil’s only diplomacy it listens to is with money & there’s no one now who entertains much more gives money; for the International Community are now aware of the Evil Devil’s greedy financial appetite. So who else can we appeal to under such circumstances except working out our sums right…?

We will have to resort to the Plan B to flush the Evil Murderous tyrannical Predator for real if we are to do for “country first children first”; ensure & ascertain our general collective welfare, safety & security of the whole nation; nobody will do this for us, it’s only ourselves to our own rescue….

God helps & bless the collective endeavour to salvage Gambia; Ameen.

  11. Of course Bourne, our Murderous Evil Barbaric kanilai Devil is a pretentious “brave” calculating COWARD; it listens & backs down when confronted with subsequent force with the same brutal attitude it unleashes upon the defenceless innocents. The UDP did just that, we all saw it shoved its tail between the legs like the dog that it is & granted them the illegitimate permit which should’ve never been in the first place. Why restrict the opposition parties when Evil APRC tours anywhere in country anytime at will all year around, without subjected to permits. Gambians have to be prepared to confront the Evil Murderous Devilish Monster with same brutal force to salvage & reclaim the motherland. It can’t stand it when the opposition unifies to take on the Murderous Evil kanilai tyrannical syndicate. That’s why it will do anything to see them at each other’s throats…..

The same force must be mustered by the general collective Gambians to flushed the Murderous Devil out for sanity & tranquillity to reign back in Gambia. Sooner the better….

    • Thank you for your view point Bajaw, and we all thank Hon. Ousainou Darboe, the Gmc leadership and the ordinary Udp and Gmc etc., membership and militancy on the ground, forward home, for the risk they took in that act of pragmatism.

  12. Guys , we can appeal to international community to put pressure on dictator and his autocratic regime and that is all fine but in many cases international community will put significant pressure if there is already a existing pressure in the home country . In other words , international community will come to our aid if Gambians started putting pressure on jammeh. Currently there is minimal pressure on Jammeh at home front. Community and religious leaders are not talking about the arrest of the innocent citizens and majority act like nothing is wrong . International community has an obligation to act to support the general welfare of citizens . This is Gambian’s responsibility and international community will come to help us if they see that we are doing something for ourselves . So we shouldnt expect them to do our fight for us . This is why for past 20 years , Jammeh has been playing cat and mouse game with international community . Jammeh is a criminal thinker with great mind , politically he is very aware and knows what to do . If majority of Gambians just sit idly by and careless about fellow citizens , do you think international community will come and help us ? Looking at senegal , when wade attempted to prolong his stay , it was senegalese citizens who mobilized themselves from all walks of life and campaigned for his removal, this was supported by international community including United states which voiced its concern about democratization process and transfer of power to the choice of the people . Gambian’s should do the same or lead the efforts . I don’t believe that Jammeh will be removed withot Gambian lead efforts . The crimes Jammeh continue to commit will go on as along as majority Gambians keep silence and act as nothing is wrong .

  13. Many many thanks then to our brothers forward home; the Udp leadership, the Gmc leadership, etc., and their respective parties’ general memberships and militancies for hanging their lifes on the line for the rest of us. All I can do is to give them a hero’s salute. No pushing the heroes around from abroad but respectfully urge them to unite because united, they are the force capable of drawing genuine international community attention.

  14. Maxs: I want you to say this a million times to Gambians. This time you are speaking for me. Thanks so much and good luck.
