Kairo News Banjul sources have warned Gambians abroad, particularly those living in the United States, to be extra cautious while on vacation in their native country. The warning comes after two United States based Gambians were picked up by police at Kololi, only to be handed over to the feared National Intelligence Agency (NIA) personnel last night.
The duo, whose identities are yet to be established, were on vacation in The Gambia where they spent a week before their pick up. Our sources have been tasked to uncover the detained persons’ identities.
“Tell Gambians in the United States to quickly get in touch with their friends and relatives who traveled to The Gambia last week,” our impeccable sources advised, begging for cover. “There is a possibility of them being arrested by a government that enjoys trampling on the rights of innocent people.”
This latest case came on the heels of the disappearance of two American citizens in The Gambia. Alagie Cesay and Ebou Jobe withdrew their savings and pension fund and traveled to the land of their ancestors, only to disappear without trace. The disappearance dashed their investment ambitions as well as left their families with tears. And to make matters worse, The Gambia government had throughout denied any involvement in their disappearance.
Our source said the Jammeh government is using the failed December 30th coup as a pretext to classify Gambians in the United States as prime suspects. This makes it imperative for Kairo News to sound the bell while investigation to establish the detainees’ identities or whereabouts continues.
It’s always sickening to hear that Gambians who are arbitrarily arrested by state security agents disappear without trace.

Prior to July 22nd 1994, this type of news is always a distance news. We always hear them in the radios only, and read them in newspapers, but now it is staring right in our face. The Gambia security forces under dictator yaya jammeh should release these two gentlemen to enjoy vacationing in their motherland. This again is a sign of a dying regime. Yaya jammeh is really, really paranoid. Now everybody is his perceived enemy. If you have any charges against them, take them to court otherwise you have to abide by the 72hrs maximum rule. When dictators fall, they fall hard. We have seen numerous dictators around Africa fall harder. Some disappeared in the face of the earth, not even a single tooth could be found. We have seen others begged for their lives..The thought that came to everybody was this dictator sounds totally different.Just to let president yaya jammeh know that what goes around cones around. Release the two gentlemen. Good Luck.
This should alert every one that whether you keep silence and do not want to engage in the struggle simply because you want to go to Gambia and enjoy your vacation , you are equally a suspect like those who express their outrage and denunciation of this regime . This regime spare no one . Those in USA should know this and realize that the fight to restore democracy and rule of law is responsibility of every Gambian. Even people in Aprc camp should also know that there are equally vunerable as those in the opposition since they know Jammeh well and jammeh like to eliminate those who knew him well. This is evidence by imprisonment and exiled of senior or top civil servants and military leaders such as chief of defense staff , Attorney general, chief justices , presidential affair minister and many prominent aprc politicians such as baba Jobe , Lang conteh , Abdoulie kujabi and many others . People need to open their eyes and understand the reality of military dictatorship .
