Ousman Badjie Is Also Hooked

ousman-badjieOusman Badjie has become the latest Jammeh enabler to be a victim of the very system he has helped entrenched.

Badjie, whose hands remain dirty with blood of the April 2000 victims, was fired as the Minister of Transport, Works and Construction on Thursday. He had his debut in court on Tuesday. Ousman Badjie was arraigned before Magistrate Dawda Jallow of Banjul charged with the usual economic crime and negligence of official duties.

The former diplomat pleaded his innocence. The court ordered him to be remanded in Mile pending the reassignment of his case the Chief Justice.

Mr. Badjie was a former Interior Minister and the Gambia’s Ambassador to France. He was appointed Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure on August 25th 2014. No official reasons were advanced for his removal from office which followed the transfer of ministry to the Office of the President on November 13th.

  2. I can vividly remember him laughing when asked by a GRTS reporter that shooting of the school children emanated from the soldiers
    Welcome to your invented mile 2

    For Whom Da Bell Tolls – by John Donne:

    ” He for whom this bell tolls may be so ill that he knows not it tolls for him;

    And I may think myself so much better than I am, as that they who are about me, and see my state, may have caused it to toll for me, and I know not that it tolls for me;

    Therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”

  4. Whatever the charge is, the Rt Hon Minister is, and should be, presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent and an impartial court of law applying due process and procedure. However, it’s striking to note the all ubiquitous His Worship Jallow of civil society and the ruling party’s TV pundit who recently allegedly has a tussle with the powers that be, apparently has no hesitation in sending Hon Minister to Mile 2 without considering bail. The consequences of this on the accused’s ability to prepare his defense will be irretrievably damaging.

    Surely this case will also represent another miscarriage of justice for people who could otherwise be properly convicted for serious offences.
