Jammeh's Brother Jumps From Lance Corporal To Lieutenant

Lt. Sulayman Jammeh jumps the military hurdles!

The top brass of the Gambia National Army have become mired in shock and disbelief upon receiving a directive ordering the immediate promotion of a defence clerk to an officer position without merits or justifications. Lance Corporal Sulayman Jammeh, a cousin brother to Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, has been promoted to the rank of a full Lieutenant overnight.

“Sulayman’s appointment directive was communicated to the Defence Headquarters a fortnight ago,” a trusted source confirmed. “It emanated from the Office of the President that Sulayman has been promoted to a full Lieutenant with immediate effect and that he was moved to the State House as an officer in charge of vehicles.”

During two weeks of investigation, Kairo News established the blood relationship between Sulayman Jammeh and Gambian leader who both hailed from Kanilai village.  Sulayman shares the same mother with Ansumana Jammeh, the President’s half brother. It is also established that Sulayman, better known as Birreh, joined the Gambia National Army in 2008. After completing training, Sulayman was posted to Farafenni military camp as an infantry soldier. He was later moved to the Army Headquarters as a clerk. Jammeh attended Pipeline Comprehensive Senior Secondary School. Kairo News could not confirm Birreh’s social media profile status that he attended Gambia College.

In summary, it has been proven that Sulayman who goes with Facebook name Yahya Junior, is “not a sound person who deserves an officer rank. He is a very dull soldier whose promotion makes no iota of sense. Sulayman’s promotion provides evidence of nepotism, favouritism and abuse of office by President Jammeh who swore to execute his official duties without fear, favour or ill will,” a senior military official said.

Haha, what do expect when their command is coming from a ninkompoop president? This is what I call promotion inflation.

This can only happen in Yaya Jammeh’s Gambia. His is an army without a spine.

The fact that a LCpl (a junior NCO) just a rank above a private can be promoted all the way to an officer without going through any commissioning but rather through a presidential directive exposes the GAF as an ineffective and demoralised fighting force hence these soldiers will certainly break ranks went confronted by a well trained and well equipped enemy force. I think with hindsight one can say that Yaya is sowing the seeds of his own destruction, but he is too stupid and ignorant to know that. Gambian soldiers have the poorest military skills I have ever seen ranging from their weapons drills and the total lack of military knowledge as in battle drills. What a quagmire.

  5. It will be hard and probably futile, to argue against the existence of a standing Army in the modern state, but the GNA in its current form, is a complete waste of resources.

This much publicised rapid promotion, from lance corporal to full lieutenant,is probably the tip of the iceberg. Only time will tell what goes on unnoticed in that so called Army.

Apart from the nepotism/favouritism in this group and blind “loyalty” shown to Yaya Jammeh, two of.my concerns with the GNA are these:

(1)..The officer ranks are not only inflated and unnecessary for a small Army like ours, but the qualifications and suitability of the holders of these ranks are questionable…

How did we produce all these Generals and Colonels when the GNA is barely 30 yrs old…?

(2)..Moral is so low that that one worries whether the chain of command will hold when order breaks down…

The Army may possess heavy weapons but the men are ill prepared for combat because the Commander in Chief does.not trust them with the weapons. Except for a handful of his trusted boys, the bulk of the men are unarmed because the weapons are kept under lock and.key.

The next government will.have to seriously figure out what to.do with that lot..If.I was the next President, I will disband the GNA and replace it with something suited to our needs.

  6. There is nothing more that shock me about this buffoon. He is such a hypocrite, he needs a 12 inch shoe clearly mark on his fat ass. Pathetic!
