Beach Volleyball honor Gambia with historic first ever gold medal Rabat, Morocco, August 20, 2019- It wasn’t a traditional gold medal, but the first ever for the West African country ever in all the sports at senior continental level to figure out a new line of their history. Gambia broke all the facts to beat hosts Morocco 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 17-15) in the final match in front of a full house of excited spectators. The matches were attended by FIVB President Dr Ary Graca and CAVB Presidnt Dr Amr Elwani. The thrilling final day began with two semifinals where the Moroccan double Abicha/Elgraoui surprised the experienced South African Goldschmidt/Williams 2-0 (21-16, 23-21), while dark horses Gambia’s Jawo/Jarra took on struggling Rwanda’s Ntagengwa/Kavalo 2-0 (21-18, 21-16). The exciting three-set final showed stronger performance as the Gambians fought aggressively to beat the Moroccan team supported by their spectators.
