I wish to use your widely read media to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to his excellency, President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, his government and the entire citizens of The Gambia on the just ended visit of Sheikh Mufti Ismael Menk to the country. Mufti Menk is a renowned world leading Muslim orator, widely followed and admired. His visit and public lectures in The Gambia would surely attract many followers the world over and hence potentially further enhance The Gambia’s positive image in many ways, with religion and peace the foremost. I thank him for coming and hope that Gambians draw positive lessons from the visit.
Therefore, special thanks and appreciation to our dynamic young and industrious Gambians, Alieu Daffeh, Lamin Sanyang and others, for their laudable efforts and positive thinking attitude that led to this overwhelming achievement. I thank you and our government for arranging and facilitating such an historic and fruitful visit. Surely Mufti Menk must have also left The Gambia wowed, impressed and contented at the special Gambian beauty and splendour (tranquillity and friendliness).
I thank and commend all Gambians for yet another milestone, as it also coincided with the visit of HRH, Prince Charles of the British Royal Family. The peaceful environment and rousing welcome coupled with the usual Gambian hospitality and kindness was amazing and commendable, thus well done Gambia. May the aftermath be a renewed source of national peace, development and progress for our country, ‘ameen’.
Long live The Gambia.
