President Adama Barrow has joined thousands of Gambians who mourn the untimely death of a prominent Muslim scholar. Sheikh Sedia Ceesay, an educationist of Gambia Islamic Institute in Tallinding, died on Wednesday. Thousands attended the burial of Sheikh Sedia’s burial in Tallinding.
In a statement, President has “learned with deep sadness the death of Sheikh Sedia Ceesay, a renowned Imam and Islamic scholar in The Gambia.”
“On behalf of the government and the people of the Republic of The Gambia, President Adama Barrow would like to convey heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, both in The Gambia and abroad,” President Barrow wrote through his Press Director.
Mr. Barrow prayed “for Allah Subhana-wa taaโla to grant him eternal bliss in Jannatul Firdawsi.”
“A government delegation led by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Honorable Hamat Bah, attended the funeral to personally pay his the presidentโs condolences to the family.
Sheikh Sidia Ceesay, a native of Jarra Barrow Kunda, was a leading Islamic scholar at the Talinding Islamic Institute and a member of the Supreme Islamic Council. He was the host of Islamic Forum on GRTS radio.”
