ECOMIG Peacekeeper Dies Of Breathing Problems

The ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG) regrets to announce the sudden death of one of its peacekeepers. Staff Sergeant Abubakar Abdullahi of the Nigerian contingent. The late S/Sgt Abdullahi aged 46, passed on in the early hours of Wednesday 4 July 2018. He was observed to be experiencing irregular breathing while in his sleep and was rushed to hospital for medical attention however he could not survive.

The body of the late soldier is currently being kept at the Edward Francis Small Teaching HospitalMorgue in Banjul. Arrangements are being made to convey the body home (Nigera) for the necessary rites and burial in accordance with national, traditional and military customs.
