The United Democratic Party (UDP) leader has lauded his party’s Mayoral candidate in the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), describing him as a “young visionary leader.” Talib Ahmed Bensouda is a young man in his early 30s.

“Talib Bensouda is a young, dynamic and visionary person. He is exposed and has experience,” UDP emblematic figure, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, said.
The Gambia’s biggest and richest municipality has become a battleground for political parties and independent candidates that have since been pushing ahead with their plan to capture the hearts and minds of the electorate. Mr. Bensouda is seen as a major contender for the control of the KMC.
But Mr. Ousainou Darboe, who doubles as the Gambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, said Bensouda is a unique candidate who is yet to be ‘infected’ with politicians’ virus. “He is coming there with a great ambition to transform this municipality, to ensure that service delivery is next to none,” he added.
Darboe did not doubt Bensouda’s capability to deliver on expectations because “he has the will and the vision to do so.”
Talib Bensouda, who spoke to this reporter, outlined a five-point plan geared towards bringing a radical transformation at the KMC.
He planned to relocate the Bakoteh for continuously posibg environmental hazards to the people of Bakoteh, Manjai and the surrounding areas. “We’ll look at all options on the table, and will go for the most feasible one,” Bensouda said with confidence.
