Ousman Sonko, The Ungrateful Stranger

The-minister-of-Interior-Hon-Ousman-Sonko.I concur with Femi Mahoney on his social media posting that “people often ignore the very crucial fact” that the fired Interior Minister who took to his heels before hell broke loose “Ousman Sonko, Yahya Jammeh and most of their fellow brutes have none or weaker family ties in the Gambia.” Ousman Sonko was born Ousman Badjie at Bijnor in the Southern Senegal’s Casamance region. He came to the Gambia as a youngster and acquired education. Sonko was adopted by one Sitapha Sonko, a Gambian taxi driver from Niumi Berending. Ousman ditched his family name and adopted that of Sitapha.

Sonko enlisted in the Gambia National Army. He was a no known quantity until he masterminded the murder of Lt. Almamo Manneh and Corporal Momodou Dumbuya. Instead of being grateful to Gambians, the ungrateful Sonko paid goodness with terrorism, becoming a monster for everyone, including the very people who helped him achieved his dreams. He has also flirted with young girls, leaving behind so many children dotted all over the Gambia. That’s the offshoot of his reckless impregnation of vulnerable girls.

Ironically, the once most powerful ally in Jammeh’s criminal enterprise abandoned and left the Gambia for Sweden where he is currently seeking sanctuary. This is despite all the mayhem and atrocities he has meted out on Gambians and nonGambians in the Gambia. It’s no one’s guess that when he goes back to Africa, Ousman will not step foot in the Gambia where he will always be wanted for his heinous crimes.

Gambians need to scrutinise and vet anyone for recruitment in the security service to avoid the emergence of the likes of Yahya Jammeh and Ousman Sonko in a New, Democratic Gambia where the content of one’s character as Dr. Martin Luther King J. put it matters and not the ethnicity. The only qualification Ousman has possesses is that of ethnicity. Now the pussycat Sonko has accepted the reality that the Devil Leader’s brutality and aggression knows no boundary and that power is fragile.

  1. Sonko thief too much money. He will buy house in sweden and life good in sweden. He will enjoy women. Sweden stop that.

  2. Citizenship must be clarified in the third republic to avoid an even bigger problem for our future.

I know talking about gambian citizenship is a difficult one but we must not shy away from it come the third republic.

    • The ungrateful stranger became [Regretable guest]! A great lesson to be learned!

      • It is about citizenship!. It is not about strangers and hosts. This looks like authentic Yankuba Jobe’s Burka been stolen. Whether it is him in his Burka or not, we must learn how to keep ourselves under our own shells.

  3. Off course , majority of these idiotic so called citizens have no strong family ties or connection to the country . Dictator Jammeh himself has no strong root in our country because his mother came to our country with pregnancy and he was an “anchor baby” by various reports. The current lead of state guard general Saul Badjie has questionable background and qualifications likewise many of minority jola top aides to Dictator Jammeh . King papa who is the personal body guard to dictator Jammeh is not a Gambian citizen but he was born in cassamance where he was raised and later came to The Gambia to join our military. When the dictator and his gang of criminals are removed, we must ensure that our military/ national security apparatus are not infiltrated by foreigners who has no qualifications or strong social or economic ties to our country. Though , we have Gambians with strong roots In our country who participated in heinous crimes but such evil citizens have no where to run once they are fired. The evil foreigners can easily return to their original country without consequences.

  4. Talking about citizenship in the Gambia maybe difficult but not much i think. It won’t be a puzzling issue for the Alkalolu and Seyfolu across the country. All citizenship statuses must have to be revised and re-verified. The Gambia passport needs to be changed, the I.D card and even the birth certificates. All that time haven’t elapsed to forget whose dad crossed the border of Gambia from southern Senegal and so forth. I am not saying that citizenship has to be writen on our foreheads for one to be able to work in the Gambia’s political play field but an intensive background check is well worthy on very aspirant.
The latter in my view is the only way to prevent us from creating monsters we can’t kill, when they got mad out of control.

  5. Scarlet Pimpernel

Ungrateful stranger indeed. Remember Adolf Hitler was once an ungrateful stranger too. That’s how they all end up.

  6. Max, who then are those that have strong family ties or connection to the country?

Is it by accident or design that all these people you are profiling belong to a particular ethnic group? And in this case the Jola ethnic group.

The 1997 Constitution of the Gambia confer citizenship on every Gambian based on their status of citizenship prior to the coming into force of the Constitution. And this status of citizenship is based on birth, descent, registration or by naturalization.

Consequently, all Gambians who have acquired citizenship by birth, descent, registration or by naturalization, before the coming into force of the 1997 Constitution, shall continue to have the same status of citizenship after the coming into force of the 1997 Constitution. They are all Gambian citizens.

What is not clear, however, is who obtained citizenship by birth, descent, registration or by naturalization before the coming into force of the 1997 Constitution.

To make this determination is where the citizenship clause of the 1970 Constitution becomes relevant.

Chapter 2 of the 1970 Constitution states that : Every person who having been born in the Gambia, is on the 17th February, 1965 a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or a British protected person and shall become a citizen of the Gambia on 18th February, 1965.

Thus, the 1970 Constitution which has a Monarchical intent, is the legal basis upon which Gambian Citizenship have been determined.

The Gambia under the British Monarchy was a colony, and all those born in the Gambia were subjects of the British Crown.

Before the 18th of February, 1965 every person born in the Gambia was a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or British protected person.

On the 18th of February, 1965 a person born in the Gambia, and who is on the 17th February a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies or British protected person, shall become a citizen of the Gambia.

But here is the catch: Provided that a person shall not become a citizen of the Gambia by virtue of the subsection if:

    a) neither of his or her parents nor any of his grandparents were born in the Gambia.

How did the British Monarchy come to this determination of establishing Gambian citizenship?

On the 17th of February, 1965 all those born in the Gambia were citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies or British Protected Person and acquired such citizenship status even though neither of their parents nor their grandparents were born in the Gambia.

What has changed on February 18th, 1965?

    • Kamalo, what I would say is; lets find a way to stop the inflation of legible voters’ population of the Gambia by not registering relatives from across the borders of Gambia with southern senegal and stop blabbering the anti-colonial rhetorics. The citizenship and the legible voters issue if neglected, is playing with fire that can burn down your house into ashes.
I don’t care and don’t care too where the I-Don’t-Care road leads me to for this matter! I wasn’t there in 1965, Feb.18th and it is my opinion that 1965 has nothing to offer us with respect to Gambia’s national resolve. We all know the setbacks colonisation has caused to African nations. Stop being boring!, because that is it.

    • Kamalo , you are either dishonest or you want to confuse yourself here . The fact that you asked that i tried to profile people belonging to jola ethnic group is indeed a dishonest and malicious question . unless you want to tell me you are too ignorance of jammeh’s security set up then you must be educated that people like ousman sonko and many of his types are imported killers who have no strong connection or ties to our country . you categorization that i tried to profiles ethnic jola people is the biggest lie ever suggested on this forum. I know the fact that we have jola people who have deep rooted connections , family ties , historic roots and are native Gambians by every standard just like other tribes or ethnic group. so your question of profiling is very silly and malicious question. The fact you need to know is that we have some jolas from cassamance who have no family ties or connection to our country and these people are on the payroll of the dictator. if you consider classification of such killers as profiling then that is your choice . if you do not have strong family ties and connection to our country , i do and i am very proud of it. Jammeh , ousman sonko and other naturalized citizens who continue to kill our people are benefiting from the generosity of Gambians . The biggest mistake was to allow this “anchor baby” to be excreted in our country and later developed by Gambian people.

  7. Max, I am a typical Ndongo Banjul. I will give you that much give-away.

What makes me sick of your constant linkage of those that you have a problem with to their ethnic identity, is the sheer sense of disrespect that your tone and voice emit.

I have absolutely no doubt that “those people” do not represent the values, beliefs and moral integrity of the ethnic group they are associate with.

Deal with your problem in their individual capacities of whatever you want to call or name them.

You are the one who is powerless, marginalized and weakened by an “anchor baby” who has made you to berate, get infuriated and contemptuous for more than two decades and you cannot do a darn thing about it.

Yes, those people may not have strong family ties or connection to “your” country, but how can you explain the fact that they have been on your back for more than 20 years and counting. You must be part of the problem.

    • Kamalo , I have every right to link foreigners who killing our people to their ethnicity or original country in this case cassamance . If you do not like that then you are being dishonest to say the least . Ousman Sonko , King papa and others are cassamance jolas who are killing our people every day or abusing our people . I do not see any Mandinka , Wolof , Fula and Aku from cassamance who are on dictator jammeh’s payroll and who are prominent killers or human rights abusers . I would like to know if you find one . As I said before we have people with deep rooted connection in the Gambia who are also abusing our people . Some of these are Mandinkas , Wolof , Fula , jola .
Our people are generous to these foreigners which is why they were able to live comfortably in The Gambia and our country give them the best they deserve.
For your information I have no personal problem with any of these killers but my problem is our collective problem they have inflicted on us including Banjul which dictator has no respect for . Banjul looks like village compare to kanillia thanks to neglect of the city and her people received from the Dictator who you refused to call who he is . So my problem is those filthy places in Banjul where the mosquitos Makes life so unbearable for citizens that most people are moving to Kombos . My problem is poor health conditions and poor sanitation that people of Banjul experience daily resulting to numerous deaths. My problems is lack of employment opportunities for people of Banjul , many of who can be seen roaming Albert markets ,government departments and voows doing nothing because their government failed them morally and miserably . That is my problem . If you are happy with that conditions , I am not happy with that status ,so I am fighting to change it so that native people with strong connections and roots to Banjul can have a decent life and living conditions.
When we take back our country , those evil foreigners who killed our people will be taken to court . There will be less ” anchor baby ” or “imported embryo” into our country .
You must be a hypocrite to say that I can’t do a darn thing , I am doing something about it as citizen because I am calling them out and I am contributing to the downfall of the regime. I am indeed a proud native and indigenous Gambian with deep rooted connections and family ties since time immemorial . My people are generous and good people which is why they helped to raise this ” anchor baby ” who is destroying our country and her people . It was a mistake we are paying for it . I am not sure about you .

      • “Kamalo , I have every right to link foreigners who killing our people to their ethnicity or original country in this case cassamance . If you do not like that then you are being dishonest to say the least . Ousman Sonko , King papa and others are cassamance jolas who are killing our people every day or abusing our people . As I said before we have people with deep rooted connection in the Gambia who are also abusing our people . Some of these are Mandinkas , Wolof , Fula , jola .”

You know that something is fundamentally wrong when supposedly educated people engage in this kind of diatribe to excuse their inability to deal with the existential problems that face our country.

And it is always these supposedly educated people who make such incredulous and incendiary bigoted claims, that appeal to the base instincts of those who share the same and before you know it they have fan the flames of ethnic intolerance in our country.

They are always cowards and mischiefs who fight their political wars from afar, and used the language and argument that is symptomatic of their perceived ethnic divide to sow the seeds of polarization and discontent within our ethnic groupings.

But no one listens to them. That is the good thing about this whole yapping.

You go to the Gambia today you will not be able to differentiate between a Mandinaka, a Wollof, a Serer, a Fula, a Serahule, a Jola or any of the other ethnic groupings. They are living side by side and in peace. Just as they have been living for ages and ages that span through generations.

Now you have people like Max who wants to give us a false dichotomy between Mandinkas and Jolas, Wollofs and Fulas, Serers and Manjagoes etc, and the killers among them who are born and breed in Banjul versus the killers among the Jolas who cross the border from Cassamance all because he has a problem and cannot deal with it. Pathetic.

And he wants to give us this false narrative of foreigners coming into our country.

Did you know since when foreigners started to come to our country? Those that cross the border from Senegal, Guniea, Guniea Bissau, Mali etc.

But because of your “anchor baby” who resides at the Gambian “white House” you can only conveniently think about the Cassamance Jolas.

Your ethnic bigotry is beyond pale and it has no place in the larger Gambian society and our cohesive and tolerant social and ethnic dynamics.

NB: Will separately deal with the second half of your post.

        Reply

        • Kamalo , I know you will make the same silly and malicious allegation about me that “I am making tribal bigotry remarks ” when I pointed out cassamance jola people like Ousman Sonko are killing our people . you are indeed a hypocrite and dishonest political progeny . You can’t accuse me of tribalism for simply pointing out cassamance jolas help to oppress our people . Instead of you acknowledging the fact that these foreign born Gambian citizens from cassamance are today occupying top security positions for the dictator , you can cowardly and hypocritically blame me for pointing out the ungrateful strangers who has caused so much suffering in our country . As far as Gambian tribal groupings are concerned , I did not make any distinction between the tribes in terms of those complicit in human rights violations because I know we have every tribe aiding and abetting the dictator but I must point out the foreigners . This is why I have indicated that Gambian jolas like the rest of the citizens are also victimized by the cassamance jolas like Ousman Sonko , King papa and many other people . Patriotic jola citizen like shingle Nyassi had long time ago mentioned historic connection of Jammeh to cassamance and there are many people who even question his citizens . I am talking from nationalistic point of view while you cowardly lied and pretend that these killers are not the problem . Tell me an individual who is a Mandinka , Wolof , Fula and serere from cassamance who is on jammeh’s payroll like Ousman Sonko ? I challenge you on this question before but you failed to give me any answer. It is educated fools like you who refused to speak the truth but you can foolishly state that these foreigners cause no problem in our country . I have noticed that you have never castigated jammeh’s tribal bigotry in this forum but you can foolishly and hypocritically defend the foreigners like Ousman Sonko . Can you please tell us why these cassamance jolas are the only people killing people in that region since they are not the only tribe living in that region of Senegal ? Why the rebellion is tribal dominated and fight by cassamance jola only as far as everyone knows ?
If you do not like me to Make a distinction between the killers then give me evidence that other tribes from cassamance are involve in Jammeh’s human rights violations . You took your eyes off the ball and you continue to lie to everyone that these ungrateful strangers are not tribal killers . You failed to tell us why you do not like me to make a distinction and link these killers to their ethnicity and origin. You should also understand that geographical location of jammeh’s home and his connection to cassamance rebellion due to his deep roots in that area has contributed to his entrenchment in power , But a political and clueless hypocrite will deny this facts . Call anybody today who works at statehouse , they will tell you there are some soldiers who cannot speak even English , Mandinka , Wolof and Fula but they only speak jola language . These people are cassamance citizens without any connection to our country . Stop exposing your ignorance and be honest enough to speak the truth . Why is everybody complaining that jolas from cassamance are voting in every election ? It is because of dishonest political hypocrite like you who fail to acknowledge this problems .

          • “Kamalo , I know you will make the same silly and malicious allegation about me that “I am making tribal bigotry remarks ” when I pointed out cassamance jola people like Ousman Sonko are killing our people . you are indeed a hypocrite and dishonest political progeny . You can’t accuse me of tribalism for simply pointing out cassamance jolas help to oppress our people ”

Max, a bigot is someone who “obstinately or intolerantly is devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.”

Bigotry is the state of mind of a bigot. It is characterized by intolerance and prejudice.

Now, examine all of the statements that you have made against the Cassamance Jolas, and tell me if they do not qualify as bigotry.

You have demonstrated prejudice against this ethnic group, by consistently and obstinately linking killers to them, while you have not consistently and obstinately link killers to the other ethnic groups.

This is why I pointed out to you that you are discriminating the Cassamance Jolas against the other ethnic groups.

There is also a semblance of intolerance to this ethnic group.

“Instead of you acknowledging the fact that these foreign born Gambian citizens from cassamance are today occupying top security positions for the dictator , you can cowardly and hypocritically blame me for pointing out the ungrateful strangers who has caused so much suffering in our country.”

Again, consider your statement above: “foreign born” Gambian citizen” “Cassamance” and “ungrateful strangers” all lumped together in the same sentence, and you have the picture of someone who is “obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his opinion and prejudices.”

And you have been repeating this mantra over and over again. .

“As far as Gambian tribal groupings are concerned , I did not make any distinction between the tribes in terms of those complicit in human rights violations because I know we have every tribe aiding and abetting the dictator but I must point out the foreigners .”

Again, look at your statement above and see the discrimination and prejudice that is implicit.against the Cassamance Jolas whom you have publicly denounced as harboring foreigners who are complicit in human rights violations.

But by the same token you have not publicly denounced other ethnic groups that harbor people who are also complicit in human rights violations.

You are tolerant of other ethnic groups that harbor human rights violators, but you are intolerant of the Cassamance Jolas that also harbor human rights violators.

You have implicitly agreed that you are discriminating against the Jola ethnic group, because unlike the other ethnic groups their human rights violators are “foreigners.”

Max, from the statements I have examined so far, I have tried to give you a clear illustration of what bigotry is.

I will look into the second half of your statement.

          • Kamalo , instead of expressing your opinion , all you are doing is to make your bigotry judgment about my statements . This has been your objective since you asked your first stupid bigotry and malicious question about profiling entire ethnic group . All what I have done is to point out foreigners who are jolas from cassamance and who happened to be only tribe engage in rebellion in the region . Please for God sake tell me which other tribes in the whole Senegambia region which has participated in this rebellion since it started? Do not dodge this question with your bigotry judgement about me .

Here are the facts you need to understand
            .
            1. I will repeat myself here again . I did not make any difference or distinction among the tribes which live in The Gambia as far as human rights violations is concerned . Therefore your allegations that I am having bigotry or prejudice mindset against entire jola ethnic group is malicious , lies , hypocritical and baseless . I have made a distinction between killers who are foreign jola from cassamance and those who are Gambians including all Gambians tribes . In other words I emphasize foreigners who are jolas from cassamance who are on jammeh’s payroll. The only way we can identify these killers is using their origin / country and tribal identity because we can not used their skin color to differentiate these killers . As black people , our tribal languages are our major differences which help us to identify any individual , so using ethno-linguistic criteria is the best way to identify jola people from cassamance. You also lied that I am tolerant to Gambian killers but I am intolerant to foreign jola killers . This is another biggest lies and stupidity you made here. Your another worthless and baseless lies you made was ” I was intolerant to foreigners” . I have stated that those evil foreigners who killed Gambians will be taken to court when the regime is out of power . Does that mean entire foreigners in The Gambia including the innocent ones ? Stop your stupidity and speak the truth . Why do you keep lying and attributing lies and dishonest statement to me . You have a prejudice and bigotry mindset because you failed to acknowledge the killers who are foreign jolas from cassamance . I have never seen you defending innocent citizens who are killed in the broad day light during the peaceful protest and other illegal killings in our country but you can foolishly and hypocritically defend foreign killers who are in The Gambia . What a joker you are ? Shame On you for hiding behind false political belief to push your stupid bigotry agenda and that agendas is to defend foreign killers at all cost while attributing lies to me .

            2. We know that Jammeh has historic roots and connection to cassamance . Because of this simple fact , it is natural that he will feel safe with people of casssmance and have strong connection with jola people. This historic and family connection has enable thousand of jolas ethnic group to emigrate to gambia since Jammeh came to power . Majority of foreigners from cassamance emigrating to gambia are jolas and it is the same people who cross the border to vote for him in every election . Are you denying this fact ?
            3. Cassamance rebellion has been tribal dominated because almost all the rebels fighters are jolas while other tribes who live in the same region do not participate in this rebellion. Therefore the rebellion is itself discriminatory warfare based on tribal hegemony which is why it will never succeed despite their banditry and systematic human rights violations . Why would jola people will be fighting for so called independence when there are other tribes in the same Region with same economic and social conditions ? I hope you answer this question instead of giving me your bigotry judgement about the question . As Bax admitted , casssmance rebellion is tribal hegemony warfare because it is jola people in cassamance who have stage rebellion against the rest of the people of Senegal while at the same time they are indiscriminately killing everyone including their own people . Can’t you see this simple fact .
            4. Bax , the ” anchor babies ” have historic roots and ties to their original countries . Majority of foreigners born or raised in another country usually have roots and connection to their original country like Ousman Sonko . This is another facts . You and I are both talking about The Gambia because we both love our country and her people , so naturally Gambia is where we had our connection and roots . Yaya Jammeh has used his connection and roots to cassamance so that these people can help to protect him and in the process they did commit human rights violations against our people . Even in uk you have seen many terrorists went back to their original home country to fight so called jihad or some of them will blow themselves because they have grievances against political beliefs or whatever. The problem is when you have group of people who consistently cross the border to vote for our president and you also have the same group of people who are employ in our national security then that becomes problematic especially if they killed citizens on behalf of the president like Ousman Sonko and others have done .just to repeat myself , I am not against migration to our country but we have tribal rebellion in our border with Casssmance and we have the same people crossing our border into our country to vote for the president and help to commit acts of violence against our people . We need to point that out . if you called such as bigotry then you must be part and parcel of their agenda and you are being dishonest .

          • “This is why I have indicated that Gambian jolas like the rest of the citizens are also victimized by the cassamance jolas like Ousman Sonko , King papa and many other people . Patriotic jola citizen like shingle Nyassi had long time ago mentioned historic connection of Jammeh to cassamance and there are many people who even question his citizens .”

Again on the question of bigots and bigotry your above statement is a classical example.

For one thing, you are obsessively intolerant to the Jola ethnic group, even to the extend of separating those among them who are Gambians and those among them who are foreigners from Cassamance.

And the prejudice, also, you have shown in your level of tolerance among those who are Gambians and the others who are foreigners from Cassamance is quite revealing.

This again, tells us a lot about your state of mind when it comes to ethnic/tribal relations in the country. It is discriminatory. It is exclusionary.

Particularly as it relates to the Cassamnace Jolas whom you consider as foreigners. But you have no problem with the foreigners among us who belong to the other ethnic groups.

“I am talking from nationalistic point of view while you cowardly lied and pretend that these killers are not the problem . Tell me an individual who is a Mandinka , Wolof , Fula and serere from cassamance who is on jammeh’s payroll like Ousman Sonko ? I challenge you on this question before but you failed to give me any answer.”

So your nationalist point of view is that killers have a tribal identity.

You can identify the killers among the Cassamance Jolas, but you cannot identify the killers among the other ethnic groups. What do you call this ? Discrimination! Prejudice!

This is the reason why it is very dangerous to peddle in tribal politics and hate. It is mostly govern by emotions and not reason.

You are vilifying, castigating and treating with contempt a whole group of people, an ethnic group, just because the individuals you named as killers share the same ethnic identity.

.”It is educated fools like you who refused to speak the truth but you can foolishly state that these foreigners cause no problem in our country . I have noticed that you have never castigated jammeh’s tribal bigotry in this forum but you can foolishly and hypocritically defend the foreigners like Ousman Sonko. ”

Are you intolerant of foreigners being in our country? Yes, you are.

And please don’t tell me that you are intolerant of the Cassamance Jola foreigners, but you are tolerant of the other foreigners who belong to the other ethnic groups.

In the many, many years I have been around the Gambian discussion forums and groups, I have never read a supposedly educated Gambian like Max with this kind of perspective on nationalism and tribal relations. It is just mind boggling.

When it comes to tribal bigotry there is always a target audience.

Your target audience is not the ordinary Gambians who belong to all the ethnic groups and are struggling to eke out a living.

We are you target audience. You are talking to us.

“Can you please tell us why these cassamance jolas are the only people killing people in that region since they are not the only tribe living in that region of Senegal ? Why the rebellion is tribal dominated and fight by cassamance jola only as far as everyone knows ?”

Max, you just cannot help yourself. It is apparent that the Cassamance Jolas are your problem. Intolerance! Prejudice! Bigotry.

And it is ironic that you will have a problem with the Cassamance Jolas since they are not in the Gambia but live in the Cassamance,

You should learn more about the Cassamance rebellion. Why and how it started.

You should also try to learn about the nature of rebellions, insurgency and other forms of conflict and warfare.

After you do, you will take the tribal component out of it or understand its relevance in the overall scheme of things.

So far with all the statements we have examined there is absolutely no doubt that you are engaged in bigotry.

We will look at the last segment of your post.

            .

      • “For your information I have no personal problem with any of these killers but my problem is our collective problem they have inflicted on us including Banjul which dictator has no respect for . Banjul looks like village compare to kanillia thanks to neglect of the city and her people received from the Dictator who you refused to call who he is . That is my problem . If you are happy with that conditions , I am not happy with that status ,so I am fighting to change it so that native people with strong connections and roots to Banjul can have a decent life and living conditions.”

And my problem is when you deviate from the politics of issues and indulge in the politics of ethnic bigotry and quilt by association, linking the person who you hold as responsible for all the wrongs in our politics and our way of life, not so much to the political culture, inducement and sycophancy that has helped to create such an anomaly, but to the appendages of our ethnic biases and sensitivities that has caused a lot of strife and conflict in other places.

The problem of Banjul is political. And the response to the Banjul problem is a political response as indicative of all aspects of the Gambian political experience and reality.

The mature politicians among us are working very hard and assiduously to bring an end to this nightmare of “filthy and mosquito infested places”, “poor health conditions” etc. that you are lamenting above and it will take the political resolve of all us to forge a united effort in this endeavor. This is what we should be doing.

But we have a choice. We either romanticize the problems in Banjul and elsewhere, and indulge in this pathetic and archaic appeal to our ethnic biases and sensitivities, or we try to work with other political actors and see how best we can all come together to give our country a new start and a new beginning.

“When we take back our country , those evil foreigners who killed our people will be taken to court . There will be less ” anchor baby ” or “imported embryo” into our country .”

I feel ashamed to engage you more so to respond to your statement above. So I will just leave the statement to speak for itself.

” You must be a hypocrite to say that I can’t do a darn thing , I am doing something about it as citizen because I am calling them out and I am contributing to the downfall of the regime.”

I wish you good luck in your efforts.

“I am indeed a proud native and indigenous Gambian with deep rooted connections and family ties since time immemorial . My people are generous and good people which is why they helped to raise this ” anchor baby ” who is destroying our country and her people . It was a mistake we are paying for it . I am not sure about you .”

If someone tells me that a supposedly educated Gambian in this century would think like this, I would believe it as the biggest joke that has been inflicted in our collective Gambian minds.

Thank God you are an anomaly and a rare gem among us. We hope it will stay that way.

        • Citizenship is a sacred rights and responsibilities for any person born in The Gambia and who called himself or herself a Gambian citizen . It is also a privilege for those who are born outside The Gambia to become Gambian citizen. That responsibility , rights and privilege must be protected for the common interest of Gambian people and that directly link to our sense of nationalism. This is why a sense of nationalism must be part and parcel of our political process at any given time or any decision making process by any Gambian or political leader . Lack of nationalism has lead our country into corruption , nepotism , political correctness , dishonesty , human rights violations and lack of respect for our sovereignity as people of The Gambia. For anyone to come to defend Gambian foreign born killers like Ousman Sonko that should indicate lack of nationalism in his indocrinated political belief . Such a distorted political belief is a threat to our national security and peaceful co-existence of Gambian people. Our national security is directly link to jola tribal hegemony rebellion that has devastated southern Senegal region of cassamance for three decades. The question which most people failed to ask themselves ” why is this rebellion of three decades has been tribal hegemony warfare and other indigenous tribes in the same region has never participated in their so called struggle for independence ? This jola tribal warfare / rebellion in cassamance has significantly contributed to the Gambia’s military dictatorship . Here is why :

          1. Dictator Yaya Jammeh has deep rooted family and historic connections to cassamance . As a result , it is natural for him to feel safe and rely on the jola people of this region for his personal security and in return the people of cassamance can get employment opportunities which they desparately needs for their economic advancement. Such a security arrangement strategy would indeed be detrimental to Gambia’s national security , safety and protection of the rights and properties of Gambian citizenry. This is why it is very dangerous to have foreign born individual to dominate our national security institutions especially its top leadership. Ousman Sonko was born in cassamance and he was top law enforcement officer of The Gambia until his recent termination. Therefore it is legitimate and rights of every decent and responsible citizen to point out such a tribal foreign born appointment to top leadership of our national security. Dictator Jammeh has in fact used the people of this region to infiltrate our national security apparatus to the extend that even the top leadership of military are afriad to question some of these people who are recruited during military recruitment or other security services. This is also evidence by large number of unqualified military personnels who cannot even speak our common Gambian local tribal languages and state official English language. The proximity of cassamance to Gambia and its rebellion which is tribal dominated and struggle has implications that one can safely conclude that The Gambia’s national security is negatively impacted by this tribal engineered independence struggle. We must also remember that these separatist warlords especially Salif Sarjo, fighting for independence has excellence cordial relationship with Gambian Dictator Yaya Jammeh. In the past President Jammeh has infact played a leading role to ensure the release of Senegal soldiers captured by MFDC separatist rebels and he has several times falsely attempted to broker peace deal between the rebel forces and Senegal government due to his influence on this tribal separatist forces. There are various reports of Jammeh supplying these rebel forces with weapons and many of these rebel forces have made The Gambia their safe heaven when they are attacked by Senegal military. Therefore , from our national security point of view , we do have rights to point out jola foreign killers within our national security apparatus who are directly link to cassamance and who have no historic roots and family Connections to our country. Equally , it is dangerous to have such foreign born as top leadership of our national security because they could easily pass along sensitive national security information to their original home country in this case , Senegal .

          2. Financially , Dictator Jammeh and his gang of criminals have benefited from cassamance rebellion as a result of illegal timber business and drug dealing. Such a illegal activities has generated millions of dollars in revenue to the Dictator while our nation and Senegal lost millions of dollars which could have been gained through legitimate timber business. In terms of drug dealings, Gambia has become the main market for illicit drug. Thousands of Gambian youths today become drug addicts as a result of easy accessibility of drugs which are transported into our country by security services men such as juggulers. There are reports of some military personnels closed to the dictator who has been implicated or suspected in drug smuggle from cassamance region. Recently a well known jugguler , Sulayman sambou was caught with illegal drug while a top national intelligence agency operative was also caught with significant drug when he was using the official car of speaker of National Assembly . All these happened because of lawlessness of the region as a result of tribal separatists rebellion fighting for so called independence as well as lawlessness of our country due to military dictatorship . In the lawless region and conflict torn cassamance , Some of the rebellion forces has direct link to the dictator and his gang of criminals. This has also lead to recruitment of these rebels forces into our military.

          3. Politically , cassamance citizens has over the years becomes Dictator jammeh’s “basket of deplorables” due to their unflinching support because of tribal affiliation and also due to Jammeh’s historic roots and connection to the area . For this simple reasons , thousands of cassamance citizens has migrated to The Gambia settling in major towns in kombo Saint Mary division and recently named west coast region or formerly western division. We have seen these ” basket of deplorables ” becomes key players in political propaganda as well as used as a tools of political thuggery to intimidate and harrass Gambian citizens during political campaign. This is evident by Jammeh’s rented crowd which comprise of green boys and girls majority of who are “basket of deplorables” from cassamance region. Previously the people of the region used to come to Gambia to find domestic work but today , when they come to our country , they are either recruited into our national security institutions or those who are unlucky to have such security jobs are recruited as green boys and girls who are mainly seen as “basket of deplorables ” in The Gambia during Dictator jammeh’s political campaign and national wide tour. Therefore , it is very important for us to point out these people if we want to truly liberate our country from decades of military dictatorship.
It is crystal clear to all our political leaderships that these ” basket of deplorables ” from cassamance region are indeed a threat to our democratization process. This is why in the proposal of electoral reforms document signed by all opposition parties , they have made the issue of foreign voters in our national elections as a top reform agenda so that we can have credible , free and fair electoral process . Having such a credible , free and fair elections without foreign voters will lead to more democratic Gambia where rule of law , justice and constitutionalism will be respected. This will also lead to empowerment of citizens and the sense of sovereignity or nationalism will be restored because foreigners will be excluded in the decision making process to determinate the manner of our government as sovereign people of the republic of The Gambia. I believe this is how the matter of our national security and democratic in process should stand as Gambian citizen . Therefore , in conclusion we must point out any foreign tribal killers as well as “basket of deplorables ” seen as civilian foreign voters who has consistently play a major role in entrenchment of military Dictatorship in our country for the past 22 years.

    • Kamalo , I am more powerful and stronger than those killers like Ousman Sonko who is hiding in Sweden and other places . With all his power yesterday , why is he hiding today ? Today , all those who are accused of human rights violations are cowardly hiding in The Gambia , Europe and USA . I can walk freely in any part of the world without a single human being pointing accusing finger to me. That is how proud and strong I am. Can we said the same thing about those killers like Ousman Sonko , imported foreigner from cassamance who was raised in the heart of The Gambia by native Gambians and who gave him his last name as sign of respect and acceptance . I have never work for jammeh’s regime and I have never supported him since he illegally became a criminal leader of our country. I do not see myself as weak but rather I am stronger . I have every right to get infuriated because as you said I am marginalized in my own country by these imported foreigners without strong family connections or ties . This is because they did not have any sympathy or empathy for me and my native people . Ousman Sonko is a stranger who has no sympathy for our people . I believe if Jammeh and Ousman Sonko and many of his types have strong connections , ties and historic roots to our country and her people , they may not be wicked and callous like they are but these leaders aided by bad native citizens . My point here is that these imported killer can easily return to their country without consequences . These ” anchor babies ” foreigners have learned their behaviors from their historic connections to cassamance where three decade of jola tribal hegemony rebellion has taught them senseless human rights violations including rape , murder and other forms of torture. if you want to understand these imported killers , you need to understand why they are the only tribe killing people for the so called rebellion when other tribes who live equally with them in the same region are not part of their rebellion . This is the historic connections you needs to learn about these imported killers. Therefore , it is legitimate to link them to their roots and tribe For us to have better understanding who are these terrorists kiling our people . It is just like Muslims want to deny that there is a Muslim terrorists or Christians want to deny there is Christian terrorist. Even our native Gambians jolas who have deep rooted connections and ties in our country were victims of these imported jola foreign killers from cassamance. Patriotic Gambian jolas have always distance themselves from these killers. So I have every right to link them to their ethnicity or country of origin . I will be glad to name a Wolof or Mandinka imported killer From cassamance but unfortunately I have never seen or heard about one even though there are Mandinkas , Wolof and fulas in cassamance. You need to stop your political correctness and speak the truth .

      • If political correctness and speaking the truth is to refrain from indulging in your archaic tribal politics and bigotry, I will rather be politically correct than engaged in such backward political outburst.

For all I know the Gambia has a political problem and is facing an enormous political predicament.

Political parties are formed to win the hearts and minds of the people so that there will be a change in our political dispensation that will be for the betterment of all Gambians. This is the kind of politics that I subscribe to and support.

You can keep the other stuff to yourself: the imported foreign Jola killers; the Jola ”anchor babies”, the Jola tribal hegemony and the rest of all that despicable rant.

    • -And give your ‘typical Ndongo Banjul’ slick thing a break. It is and was rubbish. I love it out here that city dwellers wake up in the morning to travel to their farms outside the city. Even if they don’t acquire much education, city natives’ children here never mount roadblocks in their skyscraping cities to demonstrate Gharaw when indeed most are pick pocketers in the crowdy Albert market or petty penknife-armed robbers of its ghettos by night as most Ndongo Banjul idea would imply. Organised crime, i.e., bankrobberies, violent shooting in sparodics though can be seen or heard in news like phenomena. Such are realities even in advanced democracies.
Citizenship and the naturalisation issues are important issues that warrants a national concern. In most advanced democracies, the naturalisation process can put you pass many tests and trials. Those processes are just done to prevent, for instance, someone from becoming your country’s chief of staff of army who just with the flick of a finger, can hand you over to another territory for annexation, a move that without doubt will spark a grand scale territory-war.

      • Rect: Though organised crimes, i.e., bank robberies, violent shootings, sparodically can be witnessed or heard here in the West) in news like phenomenal. Advanced democracies too, have setbacks in their realities.
        Citizenship and the naturali…………

  8. I do not think I have ever encountered such bigoted views on this forum as @Max, and I don’t even know what to make of it. Is it bigotry or plain stupidity…?

Whatever the term “anchor babies” means, it’s usage by Max, to describe those he felt are not bona-fide citizens of The Gambia, and whom he believed to have abused the hospitality of The Gambian People is indeed very troubling to me, but even more so, is not only what is said about them, but the connection made to the Cassamance Jolas, supposed to be their origins.

It is absolutely unjustified, untruthful and insane to attempt to link the criminal behaviour of rogue and out of control elements within the APRC regime, to an entire ethnic group, in another country, simply because they are dealing with their own rogue and out of control criminals, who are reigning terror on innocent and helpless communities, in the name of struggle for independence.

Equally insane, false and ludicrous is the claim that these “anchor babies” learnt their criminal behaviour from the Cassamance Jolas, because if the term refers to those individuals who emigrated to The Gambia as infants from Cassamance (and I suspect it does), then the lies could not be even more elaborate and daring.

For, as far as we know, those infants who were brought to The Gambia have, in almost every known case, lived and continued to live and grow up in the country uninterrupted, until they became public figures. At no point during their growing up did they cease to live in The Gambia and return to Cassamance, for a while, before they were brought back.

Hence, whatever they have learnt : whether from formal schooling, peer group socialisation or communal teaching, have all been acquired in The Gambia. To therefore claim that they have learnt their behaviour to kill, rape and torture from the Cassamance Jolas is the biggest lies anyone can foister on this unsuspecting community.

How does Max wish to explain the mode of this teaching/learning process between the “anchor babies” and the Cassamance Jolas, given the fact that physical contact was limited and scanty or sporadic ? Or could there be a more filthier implication to his ludicrous claim..? Let’s investigate a bit more..

The Cassamance Jolas he claimed, learnt to kill, rape and torture during their decades long rebellion, but if the “anchor babies” have never returned back to Cassamance during their growth, how could this information have been passed to them..?

It would appear that what is being inferred here is that this information was already implanted in the DNA of these “anchor babies” and that is what is being manifested in their behaviour now. Could anyone be more bigoted than this…?

    Continued….

  9. The Cassamance conflict itself, is given a twist by Max that is completely devoid of reality. I have to acknowledge that it is logical and reasonable to assume, even without any statistics on the matter, that the majority of those actively involved in the armed banditry of the MFDC would be Jolas, but this figure would constitute a very tiny minority of the Jola population of Cassamance, as a whole.

Furthermore, there is abundant evidence to show that the single ethnic group most affected by that conflict are the Jola speaking tribes of Cassamance and this fact can easily be verified by visiting any number of refugee camps or border villages in The Gambia or Guinea Bissau, where often, the majority of displaced are Jolas.

Thus, for Max to use the actions of this tiny minority and present it as reflective of the group behaviour of the Jola speaking tribes of Cassamance; a behaviour that has been inherently passed onto their offspring in The Gambia and manifests itself in the killings, rapes and tortures of Gambians, is nothing short of fanatical bigotry: the first steps towards ethic cleansing…

This had no place in our Gambia of yesterday and should have none in our Gambia of today and tomorrow, because it is disgusting and repugnant. This is not political correctnesss…It is just standard human decency.

Finally I, like most Gambians, will be among the first to add my voice to the genuine concerns about the laxity in our system, that allows individuals to impersonate others, in order to gain some forms of benefits for themselves; whether that is to get a job, acquire financial advantage or access public service, as the case may be. It is right that we raise our concerns and doing so should not be frowned upon.

Nevertheless, we do need to be cautious to avoid making sweeping statements that border on xenophobia and bigotry or distort facts in order to misinform the audience and justify ourselves.

The case of “General” Saul Badjie or Karafa Bojang (whatever his true name is) is a very good reason why stringent and tighter controls need to be put in place for vetting and verification purposes in any future administration. I have no concerns with people using his case in order to highlight this very serious flaw in our system.

My concern lies with the way his case is misused to create the impression that this problem only emerged in.the 2nd Republic, in an effort to make cases for the alleged Jola hegemony ruling The Gambia today. Far from being a creation of the 2nd Republic, and without excusing its exploitation by the Jammeh regime, the use of “false certificates” to gain employment or school places (especially during Common Entrance days) is not a new phenomenon in The Gambia. It has been a problem of the Gambia from the first republic, which has never been fully addressed to date, and is still probably being used for different gains.

We have to be honest and acknowledge the fact that we are faced with a problem that is of our own making, being the result of a broken system that is not fit for purpose, and ultimately, it is we that must fix it. Individuals within the system, who perpetrate acts of criminality against others (whether they are adopted,1st/2nd generation citizens or indigenes, who can trace their ancestry back infinitum in the Gambia), must be personally held responsible for their actions, without any excuses or inferences.

    The end..

    • Bax , I am not only referring to those who came to our country as ” anchor babies ” but I am also referring to grown up who crossed the border to Join our Military . These are the people who are completely loyal to the dictator and they do not have any sympathy for Gambian people because they have no family history or ties to our country. Maybe you are not observing or listening to Gambians but patriotic Gambians have long time ago observe this phenomenon in our national politics and security . You and majority of your confused dishonest disciples are too ignorance of the problem . Cassamance rebellion is a threat to Gambia’s national security and our democracy . Today , state sponsor terrorism in The Gambia is directly link to Cassamance rebellion because of Jammeh’s personal connection and his used of cassamance citizens for personal security .

  10. Max, how did you come to this point? As I stated before, in the many, many years that I have followed discussions on Gambian forums, I have never read any educated Gambian make such outrageous claims as you have done.

I stand to be corrected but you appeared to be the first supposedly educated Gambian who has so publicly and shamefully engaged in xenophobia and bigotry without even realizing it. And you keep doubling down on such repugnant and repulsive statements.

I do not need to accuse you of engaging in xenophobia and bigotry. You are being indicted by your own statements and pronouncements. And the more you double down the more you exposed your intolerant and prejudiced state of mind.

There is no way you can defend the indefensible.

  11. Kamalo , first of all I said at the beginning , you have asked a very malicious question which is out of your bigotry mind . You lied that I profiled the entire ethnic jola people . You are just a hypocrite who will lie and do anything without saying the facts . It is clearly stupidity to say that I am engaging in bigotry when I am calling out people who are responsible for killing and Raping our people . I am sure if one of your family member was a victim just like others , you won’t be defending foreign born killers who were taken care of by Gambian people . Xenophobic are individuals who don’t like foreigners but I have made a distinction between foreigners . Therefore your silly allegation is the reflection of who you are because of your political correctness . Every day Gambian citizens are calling out these foreign born cassamance killers. it is idiot like you who refuse to call out these people . In fact the headline of the article Speak for itself which is Ousman Sonko is ungrateful stranger because he was welcome to our country . If you don’t like that then you should stop these foreigners killing our people .

  12. Max…

I am certain that no one on this forum will question your love for The Gambia, whether you call yourself a patriot or not, and to raise your concerns about the conditions prevalent in the country is indeed right and genuine, but as Kamalo has indicated, these are political issues that should be addressed politically, not through bigotry and xenophobia.

The concerns you expressed about some people crossing the border into The Gambia to seek opportunities, either for themselves or their families, and then getting recruited into what can be described as, “the deeper state structures”, to carry out acts that are against the interest of the state, whether that impacts on security, financial/economic fraud or social cohesion are very genuine, but the way you expressed these concerns borders on bigotry, by any standards, and that is what you fail to see…

For starters, I did not admit what you claimed here…@Max : ” As Bax admitted , casssmance rebellion is tribal hegemony warfare because it is jola people in cassamance who have stage rebellion against the rest of the people of Senegal while at the same time they are indiscriminately killing everyone including their own people . ” This is not what I stated and I refer you back to my posting.

The fact of unrestricted cross border migration between countries of the subregion, particularly the trio of The Gambia, Senegal and Guinea Bissau, is a phenomenon that has been a feature of our relations since independence, and probably much further back, which has resulted in the presence of nationals in each country, who can trace their ancestry in either one or the other country. For example, there are many Gambians who can trace their ancestry to either Senegal (Cassamnace) or Guinea Bissau (or both), whilst the same is true of Senegalese and Bissau Guineans.

Many of the individuals being identified as serial rights abusers within the security, have enlisted in the Armed Forces before 1994; certainly Ousman Sonko, and may be “General” Saul Badjie or Karafa Bojang, are pre-1994 entrants into the GNA. Have you ever asked yourself how many people have been killed, raped and tortured by or under the direction of these security officials…?

Equally, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals who were born in Cassamance, but took up permanent residence in The Gambia, having attended Gambian schools in border villages, especially during the hay days of the CCF (from primary to graduation), and gained employment in the non-security sectors, like education, health, agriculture or the civil service, without ever hurting even a fly. Believe it or not, many of these are as patriotic and love The Gambia as their home, as any indigenous Gambian who can trace his/her ancestry in The Gambia, as far back as memory or records can permit.

If your assumption that those in the armed forces are exhiting learned behaviour from their roots in Cassamance is even remotely true, why is that not reflected in this other group employed in the non-security sector..? Can’t you see that you are only engaged in a bigoted argument that has no basis in facts, reality or common sense..?

One does not need to be a security expert to recognise the security implications of the Cassamance conflict on neighbouring countries, Gambia included, and addressing that threat is the responsibility of the national governments, but unfortunately, that is not been done by our current administration effectively. And whilst this ineffective response to the security situation posed by that conflict is a concern to citizens, the alleged involvement of our own government, through deep state structures (government within government) is far more troubling, as it can create real conflict between The Gambia and Senegal.

All these, however, comes down to one thing : SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO WEAK/WEAKENED STATE INSTITUTIONS. Our priority should be addressing this major problem of weak or weakened state institutions, that has been exploited by Yaya Jammeh and his close cohorts, to create the most long lasting, repressive and criminal regime known to Africa, since 1994.

Once again, we should concentrate our focus on those individuals who are known to be actively involved in this criminal rule of impunity and hold them personally responsible. Neither their families, nor their ancestry (close or distant) should be blamed for anything, unless they are directly or indirectly found to be complicit in wrongdoing.

    • The Gambia , before the boy soldiers’ coup, had a maturing democracy that have accomodated a lot with regards to drifting of people, especially from Southern Senegal and Guinea Bissau to Gambia compared to Gambians to those countries. This was when Gambia had already proven to the sub region to be a country with future in terms democracy and socioeconomic prospects. More goods from Gambia then cross its borders into the neighboring countries.
Focusing on individual criminals of the rule of impunity is worthwhile but there are realities surrounding issues like citizenship and naturalisation that can’t be snubbed simply because it might make mention of a specific ethnic group whose activities are reminiscent of seperatistism in an already geopolitically and geohistorically recognised country of the sub-region.
Trying to unravel why the system failure, is why others may want to deploy an opinion that needs no souping-up to a readers taste. The issue of coming to Gambia from across Southern Senegal did started well before the 1994 coup but who knows without the experience of a predicament like the Gambia’s from then on now, those late immigrants from around the borders could have lived in the Gambia without one of such drifters having such an awful image in the Gambia recently like alias Badjie and alias Sonko. I could be a Toareg from nothern Mali to the Gambia from the 10th century myself, to be a ‘log-turned-crociodile’ in the water but I still owe myself a right to ask or question the intergrity of those who crossed the border in the 1980s into Gambian territories to settle as citizens or nationales in searh for greener pastures, even if they come from the same ancestral origins as me.
Let us address issues for what they import in our national debates and not for who or what it hurts. In my opinion, the discoursion on the issue of citizenship hurts where tyranny would want to prevail.

  13. “Kamalo , first of all I said at the beginning , you have asked a very malicious question which is out of your bigotry mind . You lied that I profiled the entire ethnic jola people . You are just a hypocrite who will lie and do anything without saying the facts . It is clearly stupidity to say that I am engaging in bigotry when I am calling out people who are responsible for killing and Raping our people . I am sure if one of your family member was a victim just like others , you won’t be defending foreign born killers who were taken care of by Gambian people.”

Max, your choice of words and the tone and manner in which your express them informs a lot about your state of mind. And that is what the argument has been. It is about prejudice and bigotry.

Not so much about the people you have mentioned but your linkage to the ethnic group that they belong too. And you have said a lot of not too nice things about this ethnic group.

Other people have raised the same concerns and issues with the people you have mentioned. They are holding those people responsible and accountable for their actions. Even when their ethnicity is mentioned it is only incidental and doesn’t bear any animosity or prejudice to other members of that ethnic group.

For you there is a deliberate attempt to malign a whole group of people. This is what concerns me but not the people you mentioned. That is the reason why in all this back and forth I have never once mentioned any of those people. How then can I defend them?

The people I defend are the ones I share the same vales with. The ones I share the same principles and political orientation.

“Xenophobic are individuals who don’t like foreigners but I have made a distinction between foreigners .”

Yes. The foreigners you don’t like and the foreigners that you like. I got you.

“Therefore your silly allegation is the reflection of who you are because of your political correctness .”

There is no allegation, Max. You have indicted yourself through your statements. You could have said what you wanted to say without bringing the Jolas as an ethnic group into it.

“Every day Gambian citizens are calling out these foreign born cassamance killers. it is idiot like you who refuse to call out these people .”

Calling them out does that make them less of a foreign born Cassamance killers? Do you see how silly your argument is?

“In fact the headline of the article Speak for itself which is Ousman Sonko is ungrateful stranger because he was welcome to our country . If you don’t like that then you should stop these foreigners killing our people .”

That is the headline. But no one is pointing a finger at the author that he is this or that.

This again goes to the issue of choice of words, tone and manner of expression. The author has been very respectful in his views as he deliberate with his concerns and issues.

    • So kamalo , you don’t have a problem with your own choice of words when you said that ” you can’t do darn thing ” about the anchor babies occupying the state house and that I am berated , marginalized and so on. So you are perfectly happy about the foreign born jola killers but you are mad that I linked them to their original country and ethnicity . For your information , these killers’ ethnicity and their original country where they came From is the best way to identify them. Example , kamalo claimed to be a Gambian . So I need to link you to your country . If you commit a crime in USA or anywhere , people will link you to your country and if Gambians knows your ethinicity or the region you come from , they will link you to your ethinicity and the region where you came from . This is the basis why I linked these foreign born killers to their tribe or original country . In your confused and bigotry mindset , your judgment about me in this case is the reflection of your own personal bigotry because instead of talking about the ungrateful stranger , you hypocritically asked your malicious and bigotry question .,and you have a your own personal problems because you share the same values with the killers . If you see a Mandinka or Wolof killers from cassamance , please tell me now I have been waiting for these answers. Instead of making your argument about these foreign born “anchor babies ” killers , you have decided to falsely accused me of making bigotry remarks about entire jola tribe . That is dishonesty and a lie . I was referring to these foreign born “anchor babies ” killers who you foolishly defended . I have no problem about those cassamance citizens( jola , Mandinka , Wolof ) who live in the Gambia peacefully and who never abuse , support violations or violate rights of Gambians and never participated in our election . So in your continue Incoherent argument , get this explanation in bigotry mindset. You must share the same values with these foreign born killers . I would like you to tell me how I should classify them or identity since you do not like me to link them to their tribe or country . Please stop this absurd and stupidity . Current war in Syria , the foreign fighters were described using their original country and ethinicity , example Arab foreign fighters from Saudi , German Muslim foreign fighters , French-black or Arab foreign fighers , in Libya , people used the same description for black foreign fighters who helped former Libyan dictator . Stop your silliness and use right description for these killers . They are jola foreign born killers period .
Bax , you are confused . I have made distinction between law abiding , good foreigners in The Gambia and evil foreign born killers . Therefore your argument do not make any sense when you mentioned those jola from cassamance who live in The Gambia peacefully and never hurt anyone . You will argue with yourself to your grave but you will never agree to the truth . The fact you stated that Cassamance rebellion is dominated by jola which is under statement because the rebellion is stage and spearheaded by them only , it is jola tribal hegemony rebellion for independence then you must agree to jolanization of the conflict . Tell me Which other tribe are involved in this rebellion. The majority of victims are jolas because their fellow jola fighters see those victims as sabotage to their success since they refuse to join . This is evidence by the victims in refuge camps in The Gambia . Do you want to tell me that jola population is bigger than other tribal population in cassamance ? Why is the rebellion tribal engineered in the first place ? I want you guys to answer these simple questions instead of making a your silly judgement about the question . For your information , jolas from cassamance have used our country as safe heaven and that is why they held tribal monthly meeting to raise fund for the tribal hegemony war efforts in cassamance . The evidence where these meetings took place are Talinkunjang , nemakunku , latrikunda sabiji jola kunda and many places in the Kombos . This was among one of the biggest mistake Jawara’s regime made in which they gave blind eye to these terrorist organizations who supported war efforts in cassamance . Majority Gambian jolas from Foni do not participate in these meetings and they are never part of it . This was huge national security problem that JAWARA’s regime failed to look into . When Jammeh came he seized on this opportunity to strengthen his security . Jammeh’s former chief of protocol sanna Jarju’s family used to attend this meeting in nemakunku and latrikunda jola kunda . Sanna and his brother Yusupha who is part of the jugulars joined the military when One of their brother was killed in farafenni attack . His brother last named was either Bojang or Badjie who was killed along side with soliders like Bakary saidy who graduated from Nusrat high school . Sanna Jarju has never been to high school but he was a dropout from secondary school . Yusupha too was a dropout . When these two joined the military , sanna later was posted to as plain cloth officer to Vice President while Yusupha was posted to Yudum barracks where he later joined the jugulars . The two were recruited into our military as a form of compensation for the lost brother in farafenni attack . These people family have strong connections to rebels In cassamance . This is just an example to show you why it is dangerous to have such people in top leadership and in our military without vetting. Most Gambians will be suprised to hear that our former chief of staff sanna Jarju to the office of president , had his family been stronger supporters of Cassamance rebellion . This is why when I hear an idiot like you guys making such a clueless statements about cassamance rebellion I know you are completely ignorance . Do you think sanna Jarju or Ousman Sonko will not have sympathy for those cassamance jolas fighting for independence ? You guys need to learn and make research about of our national security before you make stupid comments which makes you look like an ignorant fools .

  14. “So kamalo , you don’t have a problem with your own choice of words when you said that ” you can’t do darn thing ” about the anchor babies occupying the state house and that I am berated , marginalized and so on. If you see a Mandinka or Wolof killers from cassamance ”

Max, it is very difficult to follow your logic when you are lumping all these different statements together that seems to have no coherence.

“You are the one who is powerless, marginalized and weakened by an “anchor baby” who has made you to berate, get infuriated and contemptuous for more than two decades and you cannot do a darn thing about it.”

My choice of words in the above quote is a subtle reprimand. In other words I am telling you to put your act together. Calling this person names and giving him labels is not what is going to remove him from power.

And the phrase “you can’t do a darn thing” is mild compared to the phrase “you can’t do a damn thing” which is much stronger and can be considered as offensive. So, I am vey careful with my choice of words.

Damn can be used to express disgust and annoyance. The more subtle choice of word “darn” is an idiomatic expression to convey the fact that you have a mess in your hand that you cannot fix. Darn means to mend.

However, I could not see how you relate this statement to:

“So you are perfectly happy about foreign born Jola killers but you are mad that I linked them to their original country and ethnicity.”

You are the one who coined the phrase “foreign born Jola killers.” The phrase has nothing to do with me. I have not even used it in all my discussions with you.

So, why should I be perfectly happy with the usage of your phrase which I considered to be pejorative. You could have simply say: he is a killer.

This is my argument. To say anything else especially as it relates to ethnicity and national origin borders on discrimination and bigotry.

There is a deliberate purpose why you are doing it. You are engaged in a political battle and using ethnicity and national origin serves the narrative that you want to cultivate in people’s minds.

There is no rational basis for the arguments you made about these killers and their linkage to their ethnicity and national origin. Unless you want to question their nationality which you did. And deride their ethnicity.

You know who these killers are. They work for your government. So, there is no need to identify them much less to link them to a national origin or ethnicity.

Committing a crime has no ethnic distinction. Or national origin. You are simply a criminal. And one should face the full brunt of the law.

You have cited the USA as an example, but you should also be cognizant of the fact that in the USA you are innocent in any act of criminality until you are proven to be guilty.

As such people’s identity especially as it relates to ethnicity (race) and national origin is highly protected.

So, it is not true that if I commit a crime in the USA it will be linked to my country of origin. In this case the Gambia.

If I commit a crime they will report the nature of the crime and my place of residence in the USA.

Seldom do they report about ethnicity (race) or national origin because there are discriminatory laws that are fundamental not only to the American judicial system but also to the constitutional framework that underpins America’s democracy.

You want to hold people responsible. Not where they came from. Neither the race or ethnic group that they belong to.

So the basis of your linkage of these foreign born killers to their tribe or national origin is laughable, more so the example you have given with reference to committing crime in the USA and elsewhere.

I will excuse your insult that I share the same values with killers. But one thing I can tell you is that I am not a killer. And probably will never be one in my lifetime.

I have a conscience and I am very mindful of what it tells me to do.

The rest of the other stuff, as I said earlier, it is very difficult to follow the logic of your arguments. More so when you talk about different things all in the same breath,
