Day 2 Of UDP Standoff With Police

UDP activist Suntou Touray talked to RFI and explained the quick turn of events and why the United Democratic Party is continuing to stay put until the police open up the road.

Lawyer Darboe is getting well-wishers and supporters joining him, and the more the standoff continues, rumors are circulating that, the government could place a curfew in the country. The UDP leader and his entourage attended Friday prayers in the Fass Njaga Choi mosque today. Their spirit is said to be high whilst other opposition leaders weigh what cause of action to take.

According to UDP sources, the Fass Njaga Choi is where renegade security officer Bai Lowe hailed from. The villagers are said to be treating the hold up convoy well. The international community are alerted of the continued obstruction of the convoy, says UDP sources.
