Benjamin Roberts has become the latest official to join President Yahya Jammeh’s unstable cabinet line-up. Roberts has been appointed the Minister of Tourism and Culture. President Yahya Jammeh has used Sections 71 (1) and 71(3) of the constitution to effect.
Mr. Roberts’ appointment was contained in a press release signed by Secretary to Cabinet, Noah Touray. The appointment took effect on September 8th, 2014.
Benjamin Roberts replaced Fatou Mass Jobe who held the portfolio for more than four years. Mrs. Mass Jobe was reported to have been redeployed to the diplomatic service.
Mr. Roberts is described as an articulate, confident, professional and dynamic young man. He studied and received his M. Soc. Sci. in Economics at the National University of Singapore, MA in Industrial Strategy and Trade Policy at the University of Manchester.
Roberts began his career as a Financial Analyst at Databank Group in year 2004. He moved to Standard Chartered Bank and worked as Chief Dealer, Relationship Manager, Credit Analyst, head of Credit and Associate Director. Until his ministerial appointment, Roberts was the Director of Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency.
The question becomes whether Benjamin Roberts will survive in a government whose leader is known for hiring and firing ministers.

My advice to Roberts is to act STUPID and tide lipped and pray if he dreads going to the 2* hotel. Haannn!
Benjamin failed at Data Bank and was fired. He is very shallow in scope and analytical framework that is why he did not progress at Standard Bank.
I give him 1 month to be fired as President Jammeh will see his incompetence. Watch and we talk in 1 month’s time.
