This 17-second video is an evidence of how Brikama Youth and Sports Association congress was hijacked by the so-called Normalisation Committee, local government and sports officials.
The video clearly shows how desperate club representatives have been barred from attending the congress by the police. They could neither participate, nor vote for a candidate of their choice. This has left enough room for scheming officials to handpick Karang Lang Jatta to become the Chairman of BYSA. Kairo news has in fact learnt that the BYSA issue is still an unfinished business because majority of club representatives in Brikama town are determined to fight for the usurpation of their bonafide right to any level. They don’t want to sit by while some interest groups mess up the game of football. “We will not allow a coup d’etat in our local sports,” said one marginalised Brikama club representative.
Most people believe the BYSA case is in line with the government’s agenda to exert influence among youths. Such an agenda started with the forceful removal of the Gambia Football Federation executive committee and replaced it by its choice. The election of Lamin Kaba Bajo means the APRC government is in total control of football administration in the country.
