The Director of Press and Public Relations (DPPR), Amie Bojang Sissoho, has denied any involvement of the Presidency in contracting and procurement processes. She said the Highest Office of the land is only sticking to monitoring what is going on in public institutions.
“All I know is the Presidency is only responsible of what is happening in State’s institutions and agencies, and to be able to give advice,” she told a group of reporters during a news conference held Thursday at State House, Banjul.
Amie Bojang Sissoho’s remarks come on the heels of a damning resolution issued Wednesday by the Gambia Conference on Reforms and Democracy (GAMCORD), urging the Presidency to stop interfering with the allocation of contracts and procurement processes. The said resolution also reminded authorities on the ‘set of selectve amendements’ of the Constitution – including the Gambia Public Procurement Act 2017 – warning that gov’t will be heading down to a wrong path if the trend is not reversed.
When asked whether what the Presidency is doing is in line with the principles of good governance, State House’s Director of Press responded in the affirmative.
She seized the opportunity to highlight the significant role being played by the Office of Strategic Planning and Delivery at State House.
