The front runner in the UK based Gambian “charitable organisation of the year 2015”, Kombo Sillah Association will host its first ever charity bike ride in Bristol on Saturday 31st October 2015.
Participants will ride from Bristol to Bath to raise money for the association’s work in the UK and also help fight against malaria in The Gambia.
The project was pioneered by Kevin Tijan Touray who raised lots of money through similar ventures in aid of charities in the Gambia. The exercise will kick off from Bristol City Academy at 09:00 am. There will be two breaks along the 16.5 mile Bristol Bath bicycle path.
The participants, all members of the association hope to raise £1200 in what is billed to be an annual fixture on the association’s calendar.
The leadership of Kombo Sillah Association said they will work with Marlborough Brandt Group and other partners to deliver help to the beneficiaries in the Gambia.
Kombo Sillah Association was founded by Gambians in the UK 15 years ago and the membership has grown immensely over the years. Membership is open to everyone over the age of 17. Its aims include cultural education, community integration and social cohesion. The association is holding a fundraising Kora show today, Friday 30th October at Barton Hill Settlement Centre in Bristol. The organisers express gratitude to Paradise Express Money Transfer for providing vital support to the charity bike ride.
