GAF REFUTES REPORTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA ABOUT THE ARREST OF SOME SENIOR MEMBERS OF THE “JUNGLERS”
It has been brought to the attention of The Gambia Armed Forces High Command that there are reports making the rounds and carried by some news outlets on social media about the arrest of two former senior officers of The Gambia Armed Forces wanted in connection with gross human rights violations and abuses over the past 22 years. The reports state that these personnel who are part of the “Junglers” namely Brigadier General Bora Colley and Lieutenant Colonel Sanna Manjang were arrested by personnel of the Military Police of the GAF on Thursday 1 August 2019 in Basse.
The GAF Command wishes to categorically state that this information is untrue/false. The Military Police of GAF has not been involved in any operation to effect the arrest of Brigadier General Bora Colley and Lieutenant Colonel Sanna Manjang, who are very senior members of the “Junglers” and also persons of interest to the Government of the republic of The Gambia.
We encourage members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of members of the “Junglers” that are still at large and out of the jurisdiction to provide this information to the nearest military or police post.
