Unlike his predecessor Yahya Jammeh who aggravates the pains of bereaved Gambian families, President Adama Barrow has demonstrated mature statesmanship and sympathised with former President’s family.
Aja Asombi, the mother of a man who has so many innocent bloods on his hands, died in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Friday after a reported brief sickness. The former President’s mother left with him to exile in Equatorial Guinea.
Those who crushed path with Aja Asombi described her as “an old woman with good heart. A mother who had been at loggerheads with her only son for torturing, exiling, imprisoning and murdering his subjects at will.” Some could not believe that such a good woman would give birth to a monster like Yahya Jammeh, the man whose heartlessness had gone over the roof.
“Following news of the demise of Aja Asombi Bojang, the mother of former President Yahya Jammeh, His Excellency President Mr. Adama Barrow, on behalf of the people of the Republic of The Gambia, the first family, and on his own behalf, expresses condolences to the family of the deceased,” a news released issued by President Barrow’s office stated.
President Barrow prays for Allah to grant Asombi Bojang eternal peace.
It is rumoured that one of the last wishes of Aja Asombi Bojang was to be buried in The Gambia. President Jammeh, who had denied bonafide right to be buried in their own country, is reported to be in crying mood.
