Activists Set To Confront Jammeh

Gambian activists are once again set to make life difficult for Gambian leader who is reportedly scheduled to attend the European Union donor conference meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

Gambian activists in Europe informed the public about their planned protest through a notice copied to the media. Activists called on Gambians to grace the April 3rd, 2014, protest in their large numbers.

Those who want to partake in the protest are encouraged to bring banners, flyers, bullhorns, public address systems, video cameras, T-shirts or flags.

“Let’s come in large numbers and show the Kanilai monster that we are serious about ending the madness going on in our country,” a notice issued by Gambian activists in Europe read.

It could be recalled that Gambian leader was holed up in his hotel by protesting Gambian activists in United States and France in 2013. Protesters challenged President Jammeh on his government’s gross violations of human rights and disrespect for the rule of law and democracy. Mr. Jammeh’s personal security officers mistreated one of the protesters in France. This leaves some people asking whether Brussels protesters are prepared for similar confrontation.
