President Barrow Congratulates Buhari

His Excellency, President Adama Barrow on behalf of the first family and the People of The Gambia congratulates His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on his re-election as President.    Mr. Buhari is the seventh (7) President to rule the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was first elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

Furthermore, President Barrow amongst other Heads of State and government will attend Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration, scheduled for Wednesday, 12th June 2019 in Abuja.

Mr. Buhari was amongst the key players in negotiating a peaceful end to the political impasse in The Gambia after the 2016 Presidential Elections in which President Adama Barrow was democratically elected into office.  President Barrow has expressed commitment to work with President Buhari, in the promotion of peace, stability and regional integration.

In another message, President Barrow has extended felicitations to Dr. Mamadou Tangara, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad for his achievement as a recipient of the 2019 United Nation Population Award laureate in recognition of his commitment to peace, sustainable development and diplomacy.  The president has expressed pride that the UN has recognized Minister Tangara’s contribution in conflict prevention at a time when our country was at a decisive moment to either embrace democracy through a non-violent means or plung into chaos.

The Gambia’s Ambassador to Brussels and the European Union, Her Excellency, Madam Teneng Mba Jaiteh on behalf of her family and the Mission has extended congratulatory message to His Excellency President Adama Barrow on the celebration of the Muslim feast of Eid Al-Fitr, expressing best wishes, felicitations and prayers for continued blessings of the President, his family and the people of The Gambia.

She also prayed that Allah SWT continues to bless our dear motherland, The Gambia, and enable us to sustain our new-found peace and security as well as achieve our development aspirations as encapsulated in the National Development Plan.
