The family of Imam Cherno Gassama is appealing to the general public to help them keep up with daily feeding.

When Imam Cherno Gassama took to the pulpit on Friday October 30 2015, the cleric came in as a servant of God and as a leader very well aware of his responsibilities. He also knew very well that every soul must be accountable and personally responsible for their deeds. During that faithful Friday sermon, the Imam of Brikamaba Darsilameh in CRR reminded himself and congregation that the Creator enjoins everyone including leaders to be responsible, impartial in their judgment, honest and tolerant and that they should be God-fearing at all times. What happened to the Imam after the sermon was not only the betrayal to the highest order, but his arrest by GAMBIAN SECURITY AGENTS has left the Brikamaba Darsilameh and the Gambia community at large in dire distress and lost for words. He was accused of directing his sermon against the Gambian President Yahya Jammeh hence taken away. The admired cleric who is said to have a large following was the bread winner of the family and his arrest has already put financial constraint on the family and his students. It was reported that Imam Cherno Gassama, along with the revered Imam of Kanifing Alh. Ousman Sawanneh, is held in JanJan Bureh prison. Neither of them has so far been charged or appeared in court.
