Join the Struggle or Step Aside

papaAfter reading his writing, I am beginning this wonder if Mr. Lamin Darbo is not of such persons who could not stand meaningful progress by any Gambian or Gambian groups.  It seems instead of contributing to our Gambian struggle, Mr. Darbo prides himself in negative criticism of anything resembling Gambian achievement either collectively or individually.  I recall Mr. Darbo’s past postings and/or reviews as always been negative, although he sees them as constructive criticism.  I would advise Mr. Darbo to strive to achieve something constructive for the Gambian people rather than for his own individual interest.  Mr. Darbo may be a lawyer, magistrate or whatever, but of late, what has he done for the Gambia besides trying to portray himself as someone highly educated.  His writings are often too complex for an average Gambian to easily comprehend.  His actions resemble an individual who stands by the roadside and throw rocks on every vehicle that passes.

First, I would suggest that Mr. Darbo learn to write for his target audience, and not for his ego. Second, I would suggest for Mr. Darbo to accept the plights of the Gambian people and join the struggle to help change our condition through constructive contribution, or step aside and stop being an obstacle.  Finally, Mr. Darbo needs to know that most Gambians are just as educated as he if not more, so he must not underestimate our collective or individual strength.  CORDEG is not a construct of tribalism but of nationalism. It is an organization of honorable people who sacrifice their time and effort including finance in the interest of the Gambian.  If Mr. Darbo could not see and appreciate these efforts and sacrifices, then he must be blind or ignorant at best.

  1. Papa faal, you spot on!!!!

  2. Papa,

    With all due respect:

    1. If “most Gambians” are equally educated as Mr. Darbo is or even more educated, don’t you think we’d have seen a far different Gambia? A Gambia where a Papa Faal won’t complain that a Lamin Darbo article is too complex?

    2. Where did Mr. Darbo show ego or even publish his resume to trumpet his academic actualization?

    3. Isn’t your article more of an ad hominem while Mr. Darbo clearly directed his lines to the gist of an issue?

    4. Why is it that each time some of you folks exhibit some inadequacy, you often choose to back it with this cliche that no one should be rectified as long as he’s claiming that his actions are for the struggle? What struggle? Collecting a bunch of cronies and spitting on plularism?

    I’m not writing this so that cordeg includes me. Wollaahi Allaah knows that anything about Gambia usually catches my attention. What that same God has given me is far dearer to me than anything cordeg has. But I really love to see unity among Gambians; a unity that will make you shake Lamin Darbo’s hands while I shake that of Dr. Saine and his team.

    One last thing, if you’re related to the Faal’s in Brikama, I can tell you Isatou Faal and her children (Zahra, chilen, isatou jallow her adopted namesake, other jawara kunda kids like Pa Blie, Habib, and many Sherifo jawara children were many friends and classmates. I forgot to mention sheriff Naban, who was always at my house almost like an uncle to me.) Why do I type these? Because we are all related in the Gambia!

  3. Mr. Faal has a very important point. Come with a plan, lead and take action with your ideas… Enough with the criticism!

    Gambians need action and enough with the planning.

  4. Papa you cannot stand someone expressing his Views and you are part of PPP Resusitation committee with your friend Dr Saine then am sorry for The Gambia.

  5. Papa is licking an old wound with Lamin Darbo who took a bite on his (Papa’s) Week of Hell. I respect Darbo who writes with candidness and honesty. Keep up the good job. In every solid democracy, the likes of Darbo make it easy for checks and balance to take place. Don’t worry about people you are not in the same class and level of understanding with.

  6. Papa, you seem to jump into a fight you do not understand. I have read Lamin J Darbo’s article over and over but could not spot out where he put his ego into it. Next time don’t leave your senses behind when making a reaction.

  7. Papa is defending Dr. Saine, a colleague of the PPP resurrection committee. We will not allow these cronies to personalise CORDEG. It should and must not be anyone’s empire.

  8. When political virgins talk or write, they only cause more problems. The unfortunate thing about them is that they speak someone’s words.

  9. Papa Faal’s statement is very embarrassing. Since when did Papa Faal enter the struggle? Lamin J Darbie has written tones of articles, on sedition, treason and many political affairs. For Papa Faal, an unknown quantity to question Lamin’s involvement in our struggle, it is distressing to read. Amin, what has become of exchanging of ideas and views? This is no time to silence sober opinion Papa. Fighting dictatorship means fighting everything that causes it to stay, which is silencing the citizenry. Jawara did well in making us dumb, with false state of peace.

    This culture of bullying the Mandinkas needs to stop. Any Mandinka who speaks his mind is branded a tribal but when a Wolof sits on a radio and start insulting Mandinkas, that is ok. What the hell is going on? Mandinkas are being bullied by both all over the place.

    CORDEG, in my view, is not tribal but the fact the three top positions in the group are filled by Wolofs or Wolof assimilated Serers gives an inadvertent perception that it is a Waw Waw club.

    Anyway, I rather we look at the mission rather the ethnicity of the players in CORDEG.

    Thanks

  11. Inferior complex! LOL

  12. PATHETIC WORDS FROM SOMEONE SUFFERING FROM INFERIOR COMPLEX AND AGITTATOR OF TRIBALISM;

    Dawda, I standby everything I said. You said inferior complex but mandinka haters complain about mandinkas always trying to assert superiority. So may be you should say superiority complex. The system cannot bully mandinkas and yet those in opposition also bully mandinkas just for merely exercising their God given rights.

    And by the way I am a very mandinka; very proud of my heritage and culture. If that is what is called tribalism, then I love that cap.

  16. THE KANILAI MONSTER, ARM BANDIT, STATE TERROR, PUPPET GOVERNMENT, ROGUE REGIME, PERSECUTION, INIQUITY & PLIGHT OF GAMBIANS IS NOT “PERSONAL” BUT NATIONAL. GO AWAY WITH YOUR PERSONAL HATRED, PERSONAL VENDETTA, PETTY ISSUES, OWN IMAGINATION ON TRIBALISM, PETTY POLITICS SHOWING SEEDS OF DISCORD; ESPECIALLY YOUR MEDIOCRE ONLINE MILITANCY AND ACTIVISM FIGHTING YOUR OWN STUPID AGENDA OR CAUSE; BECAUSE IT HAS NO PLACE IN NATIONAL STRUGGLE TO LIBERATE THIS NATION FROM A MONSTER AND HAVOC!

    I AM A GAMBIAN AND INSPIRED BY THIS MESSAGE QUOTED;

    “””We ask all our citizens to be an integral part of the change they seek by getting involved in whatever capacity suits them. Change is always a difficult task and along the way it is easy to become despondent, fearful, tired, angry, and sometimes be tempted to throw in the towel. But because the cause we have embarked upon is a just one that must be pursued, we must all strive harder to achieve these important goals. We however, can do it only if we come together as one and face the opponent. This cause is bigger than any individual or group of individuals.” By Lawyer Ousainou Darboe as UDP 2011 New Year Message

    WHICH I WOULD RESTATE THAT STRUGGLE IS A NATIONAL CAUSE AND “”We ask all our citizens to be an integral part of the change they seek by getting involved in whatever capacity suits them”… & “This cause is bigger than any individual or group of individuals,” elites, cabal, clique, cronies, opposition political party, party leader and tribe! UNITE AS GAMBIANS BUT IF YOU THINK A SINGLE POLITICAL PARTY CAN GET RID OF THIS MONSTER AND IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO APRC YOU HAVE A LONG WAIT!

    SHAME ON YOU FACELESS COWARDS; IMAGINARY CYBER WARRIORS ALWAYS SHOWING SEEDS OF DISCORD TO GET RID OF THIS MONSTER!

    I KNEW WHICH OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTY YOU SUPPORT AND YOUR AGENDA SO BE COURAGEOUS TO DECLARE THAT YOU ARE UDP MILITANT AND SAME CAMP WITH LAWYER LAMIN DARBO; WITH THE FALSE HOPE OF “LARGEST OPPOSITION” PURSUING SAME POLITICAL AGENDA & GOAL TO HAVE A UDP GOVERNMENT!

    ADD A DECLARATION THAT YOU ARE A UDP MILITANT BUT WHO CARES BECAUSE I STATED THAT ” “This cause is bigger than any individual or group of individuals,” elites, cabal, clique, cronies, opposition political party, party leader and tribe!”

  18. Lafia Touray la Manju

    Dawda, I won’t respond to you on this one. I am sure UDP like all other parties can articulate their positions very well. If you want, make me APRC militant. I don’t care. The point is, the bullying of mandinkas needs to stop and I for one will never accept it for anybody. And by the way your hatred for mandinkas will only embolden my resolve.

    Thanks
