Nyanchor Sanneh Is Not Kebba ‘Nyanchor’ Sanneh

Kebba Nyanchor Sanneh

Kairo News published a piece two days ago by one Nyancho Sanneh. The article, titled Sham Election Tarnished CORDEG’s Reputation, has contained an error. We mistakenly published Kebba ‘Nyanchor’ Sanneh, a renowned Gambian activist based in Sweden, who also is also fondly referred to as ‘Nyanchor’ as the author.

Kebba ‘Nyanchor’ Sanneh wrote to clarify that he was not the author of the said article. Kairo News corrected the error and removed Kebba Nyanchor Sanneh’s picture from the story. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused Kebab Nyanchor Sanneh. Such confusion occur in the media and it is imperative that they are rectified.

We want to reiterate our commitment to serve our country and her peoples with sincerity and truthfulness. In so doing, we will open debate on all aspects of the Gambian public life. We have seen that the debate raging around the Committee for the Restoration of Democracy in the Gambia (CORDEG) has shaken individuals in certain quarters. However, Gambians have to accept that debates around every aspect of our political parties and organisations will only further our collective maturity in the struggle to restore democracy, human rights and the rule of law in our motherland. The fear of opening up debates is a clear indication that some are still in denial.

In this painful stage of our struggle, what we cannot allow is to bury discussions around organisations purporting to be inclusive and representative of everyone. We will continue to play the lead role in opening up healthy and mature debates and discussions.

Once again, Kebba ‘Nyanchor’ Sanneh, accept Kairo News’ sincere apology.

  1. I thank the Kaironews management and editors for the correction. This proved the sincerity and professionalism you showed. As humans we err and so did Kaironews this time. I hope we can go on. This is my point and I hope both those who believe in me and those who do not can finally put this to rest and shake hands while moving forward towards our liberation. We are all brothers and sisters in this. Thank you.

Great Nyanchor. Smart people swallow their pride and accept when they err. I trust Kairo editorial.

It’s called maturity. I like to think GCC people are very smart and mature people. I only know Dr Sidat Jobe though and I am not impress with his record as Jammeh’s Foreign Minister. Jammeh used him against his own relative, Ousainou Darboe, when the latter was charged in connection with the dead of an APRC supporter. Dr jobe told BBC that Darboe should not be granted bail. Darboe was later discharged and acquitted of all charges.

    Thanks
