Solo Krummah is critically ill!
Gambian security has denied family and members of the United Democratic Party access to a remanded sick opposition activist.
Solo Krummah is the UDP vice chairman in Sandou Constituency who remains remanded since his arrest on May 9th. Krummah’s only crime – if there is any – was to take part in a peaceful protest in the Kanifing. He is among the 12 UDP activists denied bail by the Kanifing Magistrate’s Court.
The man endowed with strong personality and conviction has been remanded at Mile 2 Central Prisons. Krummah is currently admitted at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul. He is unable to walk.
Until two days ago, both the family and UDP officials had access to Krummah. However, security guards apparently denied anyone to provide food and medicine to him.
UDP officials have called on the Jammeh dictatorship to release all illegally detained May 9th opposition activists. The main opposition party insists the detained activists have not committed any crime.
The party condemned the government’s refusal to allow the UDP officials and family members access to Solo Krummah. It said the government should be held responsible for anything that happens to Krummah.
