Breaking News: Jammeh’s Entourage Kills Young Boy

DeceasedA native of Sandu Misera village on Thursday became the latest casualty of President Yahya Jammeh’s meet the people’s tour.

Lamin Sanneh, believed to be aged below 10 years, was hit and killed by a double cabin pickup at Kanube village in Fulladu East district, about 8 kilometers from Basse. Doctors at Basse Major Health Center confirmed Lamin’s death.

The incident occurred at 13:15 PM last Thursday as the president’s entourage headed to Basse.

The victim’s untimely death resulted shortly after he arrived in Kanube for a family visit. “Myself and Lamin walked 8 kilometers from Misera to Kanube to visit my daughter Haja Damba who gave birth,” the victim’s grandmother Fanta Malang told our correspondent.

Lamin was knocked to death by a vehicle registration number GIBOS 9 while crossing the road. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle that killed Lamin was carrying prison officers on tour with President Jammeh.

The vehicle’s driver said he had 20 years of clean driving record. “I have never hit a chicken talk less of a human being,” Abdoulie Touray said, expressing worry about the child’s death. The driver denied overspeeding was responsible for the incident.

Our correspondent saw the grieving family at Basse Health Center. Before the lifeless body was transported to Kanube for burial, Lamin’s mother Nyima Damba said the death was destined by God. A relative of the deceased described Lamin as “a true Muslim who is always at the mosque for prayers. I always send Lamin to the shop,” Suntu Danjo said.

For ethical consideration, Kairo News decided to edit the minor victim’s picture.

Allahu Akbar! When shall these senseless killing stop? Oh, Allah help us!

  3. Aisha Trawally

kudos to team kairo for exposing dictator’s sacrifice killing.

  4. Thanks for hiding the graphic part of the picture. I don’t doubt your professionalism and good sense of editorial judgment.

  5. My heartfelt condolences to the boy’s family that was waiting to celebrate the birth of a baby only to find themselves in sorrow and agony.

  6. Lafia Touray la Manju

His mother said the death was destined by God. This is the problem. They blame everything on God when in fact, God said in the Quran ‘ I will help does who help themselves’. Gambians are too naive.

    • my Brother if God say yes who can say no.every human soul can be taking by only GOD i belive in one thing that is every persion most have a cost of Death.

  7. Wonders will never stop. This is simply sad and hard to take in. It is as if no lesson is learnt from previous occurrences. It all serves to signal Gambians to be ready for rougher turbulence ahead. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

  8. Someone had to die. Each time Yahya Jammeh leaves on one of these questionable tour, someone loses their lives. Sad.

  9. Mere “Crying Wolf” is what most of these comments are!!

I second your sentiment Bakary. And I hope that his family is fully compensated. But most of the above comments are senseless emotionalism. We have thousands of people – including young children – killed on UK roads each year. Is that “Sacrificial Killings” by the UK Govt.??? Sure our roads back home are pretty bad, but that is a fact all over the Third World. But “someone didn’t have to die”! Ten years back, while I was on holiday in The Gambia, 2 police officers escorting Sir Dauda Jawara on an upcountry trip died in a road accident. Were Sir Dauda Jawara’s police escorts deliberately killed??? As for bad driving, how many Londoners are killed each year – while on Zebra Crossings and having a right of way – by careless police speeding?? OK, recently a judge did rule that this particular officers were careless and the victims wife was compensated – but it is the first time I have seen such in 40 years in UK.

It is very sad bad indeed, but let us keep a sensible, rational mind. Kairo Editor Musa’s arrest and torture was despicable and was rightly condemned by Ecowas and the world. This, on the other hand, was just an accident and we should not cry wolf.

  10. the boy’s mother is scared because the dictatoris on the way. may his soul rest in peace.

  11. My condolence to the victim’s family, this Kaninlai mad Dog, should be confronted by all means necessarily. He’s an enemy of God.

Halake, you are talking nonsense. If somebody is killed in the UK roads, investigation and coroner’s immediately followed. And if there is a breach of the highway code or the law relating to motor traffic, culprits are taken before a court of law and face the full wrath of the law. If you the vehicle as a weapon, you can even be charged with murder or manslaughter depending on the circumstance. You need to stop making this kind of stupid comments because it insults the memories of the victims of these kind of tragedies in The Gambia.

    Thanks

Sir dawda’s escorts were Jammeh ‘s paramilitary people. The standard of training and discipline they got have nothing to with sir dawda. He is an ex-president. Stop talking bullshit Halake.

  14. Lafia Touray la Manju

And the zebra crossing thing Halake, police and the emergency services have a right to ignore traffic lights and signs provided they put their sirens on and attending to an emergency. They are only obliged to exercise reasonable care in each circumstance. Criminal law only punishes gross negligence. Anything that fall short of that falls in the civil law domain and that’s where compensation comes into play. I am not surprised that that was the only incident you have heard of because civil cases especially if they are settled out of court, and most of them are, don’t make headlines in the tabloids or tv. In fact, in this particular case, I can see the authorities willing to pay 40,000 pounds to the victim rather than wasting hundreds of thousands of pounds of tax payers’ on further litigation. And fact that the amount is this small suggest to me that there was either a significant contributory negligence from the victim him/herself or the officer’s fault was not of a major character.

    Thanks

  15. Lafia,

Are you sure you were not previously PDOIS like BAX! You argue like him (HA! HA! HA!)

  16. Lafia Touray la Manju

Halake you are insulting the integrity and the decency of the UK without any proper basic, and it’s not fair. Stop it please, will you?

    Thanks

  17. Lafia, tell that to Mrs. Doreen Lawrence, Duggan’s Family, and all those many Black and other families whose loved ones have died at the hands of the UK Police Plc, WITHOUT ANY JUSTICE!!

In the USA they shoot their blacks like DOGS at the Jeshwang swamp. Come on Lafia, look around you man – wherever you are in the West!!

  18. Lafia Touray la Manju

In the Duggan case, a due process is taking place and that should be respected. A due process has taken and continue to taking place in the Lawrence case and if you can help this process to produce the best possible outcome, you should contact the police. UK is a country of law and due process.
    Thanks

  19. The little angel will be blessed in the hereafter (Inshallah) and the family have shown and demonstrated belief that only Allah takes life…May Allah strengthen their iman to accept their loss with humility and steadfastness..

This family cannot be the problem…It is those who continue to recklessly take lives in this manner, that are the problem..

It has become a national tragedy that every time this man moves around with his convoy, lives are lost in the most horrific manner…Yaya Jammeh’s tours have become a menace to the people and nobody seems to be able to do much about it…It is only the people who can protect themselves by staying away from what is definitely a dangerous and deadly hazard..

I don’t know why people continue to be near this convoy…Talk of sacrifice are just pure rubbish..These are accidents that should never happen…

I noticed that the driver has expressed remorse…That’s never happened, as far as I know and that shows that it was an accident…

Btw, my in law, for once, Lafia is talking sense that’s why he sounded like a PDOIS “Talibeh”..

  20. My angel Jainaba is at her computer shouting at the letter “E” saying I “hate these Es!!” – because she is getting her spellings wrong by leaving “E” out. Now she is annoyed with “Vague”!!

Which brings as to Lafia, my in-law. He has been abit vague but is being clearer now – certainly ex-PDOIS!!

You say: “These are accidents that should never happen…

I noticed that the driver has expressed remorse…That’s never happened, as far as I know and that shows that it was an accident…”

Absolutel agree – that is what I was saying earlier.

” … my in law, for once, Lafia is talking sense that’s why he sounded like a PDOIS “Talibeh”..

ACTUALLY, now Lafia sounds like a LAWYER to me! “Due process” and all that. What do you think?

I hear “daddy” – so let me pay attention there.

  21. Lafia Touray la Manju

I like your fatherly spirit Halake. Keep it up.

    Thanks

I like your fatherly spirit Halake. Keep it up.”

Lafia, I was in UK in 2007 when Momodou Sanyang of GRTS rang and said: “MD, the President wants you, we will send a ticket, can you come tomorrow?”.

I said: “Don’t want a ticket, and I can’t come tomorrow … it is my son’s Half-Term holiday next week”.

Sanyang said: “I CAN’T tell the President that!!!”.

I said: “Oh, yes, you can, he won’t mind”. An hour later JT Kujabi phones me from State House to say “The week after next is OK, Mr. Halake”.

The point being, Lafia, my kids always come first … ex-wives (don’t ask how many because I have lost count!!) say I am PARANOID about my kids and that is the ONLY thing they get right about me!!!

  23. Lafia Touray la Manju

Ok Halake. About the quantification of your ex wives, that is too much information for this forum.

    Thanks

  24. Bax, you see what I mean? Lafia is now using the mega-word “Quantification”??? We have got to unmask him Bax!! (He can’t be that Toubab from elsewhere – “quantification” would be too big a word for him – ha ha ha – OK, naughty, I am sorry, I apologise!)

  25. Halake, how long have bean in England ? if you kill a child on the road in Europe it will take time before you drive specially a child of that age.But no wonder this poor boy is not your family member that is why you are saying this kind of thin.

  26. He needs to come down a bit…”Quantification..!!!”…Too much for me..
