My Beef With Educated Gambians

Jammeh and Sabally
Jammeh uses educated Gambians at will!

By Papa Kumba Loum

I do not have any personal grudge(s) against Mr Sabally despite that fact that I probably think that he has an exaggerated sense of his intelligence and importance. My point has always been that many Gambians and especially those who join the Jammeh government are hypocrites, immature and treacherous.

After 20 years of moronic rule by Jammeh, we all know who and what Jammeh is all about. Even Dida Halake the pan-African who harbours support for “radical African leaders” and one time supporter of Jammeh realised that Jammeh was immature and a gonner.

My beef with Gambians is that I have time and time witnessed supposedly educated Gambians join this despotic and tyrannical regime which has murdered, tortured and falsely imprisoned many and looted our meagre national resources.

All these guys and their families and friends know what Jammeh is doing to Gambians and yet they not only turn a blind eye to these atrocities but even go out and defend it in public -the likes of Ngogu Bah, Pa Harry Jammeh, Sabaly, Lamin Jobarteh, Joseph Woowo, Ousman Badjie etc, etc, etc. It is only when karma catches up with them do we hear them, their families, friends and tribesmen etc,etc start crying foul. You see it is ok to them when Jammeh and his thugs shoot and kill others, unlawfully confiscates the properties of others, falsely imprisons others so long it does to affect them. Now this is the Gambia we live in. So you guys out there spare me with your demented conscience about “two wrong don’t make a right…”  I think my point has always been clear. The evil that they do lives after them regardless whether you are a Mandika, Wollof, Fulla, Aku, friend, relative or foe. I rest my case.

PKL: I like wildlife having grown up in Jomo Kenyatta’s Kenya. Somebody just sent me a u-tube video from South Africa where AFTER A PRIDE OF LIONS HAD DOWNED A BUFFALLO, THE REST OF THE BUFFALOES TURNED AROUND AND ATTACKED THE LIONS – THUS RESCUING THE DOWNED BUFFALLO. Not relevant to your topic, but just though you might like it too!

See: u-tube: Buffalo herd fights off lions as they try to take down straggler that had separated from the pack

  2. will love my Gambia ever

    Well said

  3. Papa don’t worry, GOD sent Jammeh to cleanse the worst hypocrites amongst us, be they family, friends and foes as you rightly said. We have too many educated FOOLS in the Gambia and it will take a higher fool king to show them the door to hell on earth.
No mercy for those educated fools who risk for their lives for merely boosting their CV’s in a risky devil worshipping government. Bala Graba Jahumpa is next on the line and no amount of crying will save him next time from the king’s 5* hotel. Mark my words.
Let JK wipe them all before we take our country back to NORMALCY.

    • Well said. And Dida Halake is just one of those fools who narrowly escaped his former master’s guillotine.

  4. well said Papa Koumba. Incredible how many civil servants give a blind to their families support of Jammeh. A simple, please don’t support him because of me will make a big difference, yet they even give a blind eye. Educated Gambians are big contributors in the Jammeh machinery of destruction. Thanks

  5. THEY WERE NEVER EDUCATED IN THE FIRST PLACE. A TRULY EDUCATED PERSON SHOWS BOTH THE INTELLIGENCE AND THE MORAL CHARACTER FOR IT. A MERE CLASSROOM EDUCATION OR BOOK KNOWLEDGE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO LIFE EXPERIENCE AND TRUE WISDOM. ALBERT EINSTEIN AND BILL GATES WERE NOT THAT SMART DURING THEIR SCHOOLING BUT THEIR WISDOM MADE THEM MEN OF VALUE AND NOT MEN OF SUCCESS. SO WITH ALL YOUR DIPLOMAS, DEGREES AND DOCTORATES, YOU AIN’T WORTH A SHIT IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE WISDOM AND MORAL CHARACTER TO SHOW FOR IT.

    • thanks bojangba, you also just hit the nail on the head. An even more destructive cancer awaiting the gambia and her people is the so-called educated gambians especially the ones in the west.
Too many mechanically educated gambians who, with all their degrees, cannot even make a slight progress on the ground for the progress and prosperity of the gambian people are running the affairs of our dear nation and many many more are waiting for the slightest opportunity to head home and just sit in big offices and do very little.

For many of us gambians, having a degree especially when attained from the west means living large at the expense of our own people. Very sad indeed.

when one speaks the truth this straight n clear, some say you must be jealous……..God help the gambia with a visionary leader with wisdom and courage after this sad one is gone…..ameena

  6. Too many wolves in the sheep’s clothing in this struggle and that makes it detractive, but there will be no more manipulation or self dignifying.

  7. The fool, Sabally, wrote a book or whatever-you-may-call-it on the topic: HOW TO SUCCEED. Oh boy! he should have instead written one on: HOW TO FAIL, AND AS A CONSEQUENCE END UP IN PENITENTIARY.

@ Kalil Laye: Kalil, it takes guts to take risks to achieve – at least Sabally was, albeit briefly, Secretary General and Presidential Affairs Minister of the Republic of The Gambia. Just as that gentleman at Hello Gambia (I forget the net) remains Mr. Ambassador of The Republic of The Gambia and Sidi Sanneh too boasts of being “Foreign Minister” of the Republic of The Gambia.

Secondly, Kalil, thanks for the complimentary title of “Fool” (I take it you meant it in the Shakespearan sense!). It also takes alot of guts and intelligence not to end up in the “master’s guillotine” or in the tiger’s mouth – in my case a full secret tape-recording of my time at the helm of the Daily Observer (CDs of the tape-recordings were given to the British High Commissioner and my lawyer when I was arrested). PS: The Gambian lawyer was too scared to refer to, or even accept, the evidential tape at all!!!! I showed the CD to my “loyal” staff member at the Daily Observer – knowing full well that he would tell Amadou Samba about it as soon as I left the room. Once Amadou knew that I had the tape recordings, that was the end of my case – but not until these young NIA guys took me to my house to search for the tapes (and got me to autograph copies of my book for them. They left my house saying “why are they disturbing this gentleman!” … the NIA are NOT all bad, trust me). They did have a search warrant which said “In the Colony of The Gambia”!!!! in 2008!

  9. Well, there is hardly anything of value to be had from being a fool; and this be it in the Shakespearean sense or not.

Kalil, your are obviously not a fan of Shakespeare (LoL!). Trust trust me Bro, life can get very boring if you are not foolish – sometimes. Look how much of an exciting story young Sabally has to tell to his grand-children in years to come.
