The Coordinator of the ousted People’s Progressive Party (PPP) of Sir Dawda Jawara has made a video address to Gambians.
In the less than 15 minutes video broadcast posted on YouTube and linked here, Omar Amadou Jallow spoke on how a group of disgruntled soldiers forced their way into power by removing a democratically elected government. He made comparisons of the PPP era when the Gambia was touted the Champion of democracy, the rule of law and human rights. Mr. Jallow said an opposite has been prevailing since President Yahya Jammeh ascended to power. Omar Jallow also spoke about the high cost of living and suffering Gambian people are going through.
Jallow’s final message was an appeal to Gambians to rally behind the opposition “so that we will for once get rid of the dictatorship and replace it with a government that will respect the rule of law, democracy and human rights.”
With a united opposition, the former Agriculture Minister in the ousted regime was confident of opposition victory in the 2016 presidential elections. He therefore called for a united opposition in a bid to field a single candidate against the man who wants to rule the Gambia forever.

Well done OJ!
I agree with you entirely that Gambians have to wake up from their slumber and unite to flush out Jammeh.
Go after every opposition leader.
Social Media, especially YouTube, is one way round the media blockade that the opposition is subjected to…I have often wondered why Gambian opposition is not making use of social media…The only ones I’ve seen seem to be old, poorly recorded videos of UDP rallies….Nothing from NRP or PDOIS. …Lots from APRC, unfortunately.
I think the opppsition needs to do more of this on a regular basis….They are denied access to Gam TV but how many receive Gam TV signals, even in the country..?
Please, get your acts together and form a genuine, non partisan coalition, with a common short term realistic and realisable agenda….
Thanks Hon. Jallow for your continued efforts to defeat this dictatorship. ..
YOU ARE QUITE RIGHT MR OJ. THEY ARE CRIMINALS, ONLY TO MAKE THEMSELVES RICH. THEY HAVE OVERTHROWN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOLPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND OF THE PEOPLES. SO IT IS HIGH TIME FOR THE THE WHOLE GAMBIANS BOTH HOME AND ABROAD TO STAND UP UP AND REMOVE THESE CRIMIAL GOVERNMENT FROM POWER BY ALL MEANS. LONG LIVE THE GAMBIA.
A good call but will you be in The Gambia when elections are around. In the past two elections, you did a runner and that is not helpful at all.
Thanks

OJ AGAIN……….
I do not beleive one second that elections can remove JK from office as long as he is in power.
Secondly it is more than high time the opposition learders fight for Gambians in the diaspora the right to VOTE. We are the bread senders and as the saying goes no representation, no taxations.
Our voices and voting cards or nothing. PERIOD.
I agreed that the opposition need to unite and fight the dictatorship in the Gambia but as far as elections are concerned with Yaya’s government conducting it. It will not be free and fair. OJ, why do you still believe that the opposition will win a sham election in the Gambia when there is not level playing field? Yaya steals the elections before the voting is complete by registering non-Gambians to vote for him, packing his supporters in the independent election commission board, arresting and harassing the opposition members and supporters, buying votes to reduce opposition support, denying permits to the oppositions or limiting their campaign meetings, no or limit government media usage by the opposition and printing surplus ballots to add to his counts. With all of these factors, there is nobody who can win Yaya Jammeh in an election. Please OJ don’t waste our time, money and raise our hopes again for nothing. The only solution to get rid of Yaya will be to rise up and drive him out of the country or fight him but forget about elections.
